Allergy shots may help too--see an allergist not just an ENT. Oral steroids or an intramuscular steroid shot will help for acute on chronic flares. Gotta love houston weather.

Never thought I would give medical advice on this forum...
Thank you and I'm certain we never would have thought of bringing up the topic, if it weren't for Houston air/weather. Just my 2 cents and not that of the OP.

This was recently mentioned in another thread, but is relevant here.

You know the dreaded 4-hour boner they warn you about in the Vitamin V/C/L ads? The first thing that doctor is going to give you is pseudoephedrine (or Sudafed). Vitamin V/C/L works, in part, by lowering your blood pressure. Pseudoephedrine will raise it.

Consequently, I'm not taking it, even if I feel like my head is full of cement.

BTW, anything with a "D" (e.g., Zyrtec-D, Claritin-D) contains pseudoephedrine.

Whenever I have bad allergies I use flonase and allegra D. Allegra D is expensive but worth it when allergies are really bad. Buying it from Costco seems to be half the price of walgreens. If I'm not suffering too much then I just use zyrtec.
