Clearly, it takes a conscious decision to open up a drama thread and read all the way through it. So, in effect, by actually reading it, you are making one (or both) of two decisions:

1. You love drama and want to participate in it.
2. You love being entertained and this drama entertains you.

If you don't fall into either of those two categories, then you simply would not open the thread, would close it if you accidentally opened once you realized what it was, or would not get distracted from your original non-drama-related goal of coming to this site.

I happen to like Whispers - I'm also a secret trashy reality TV watcher (Jersey Shore FTMFW) - and it's pretty much the same effect to me as watching JS. ALL of the posts here in Coed, IMO, are entertainment - I don't come here for informational purposes at all.

So while I agree or disagree with most of what he says, at the end of the day, it all rolls off my back just like all the beads of sweat if someone cruelly forces me to walk up a flight of stairs.

Bottom line: If you didn't want drama, you wouldn't post. You wouldn't start ANOTHER drama thread (I've got 5 of them open right now that have posts in them since last night, btw). You wouldn't really give a shit.

Think about that, guys and girls.
Beautifully stated Smart, maybe there is something to your handle.
When everyone realizes Whispers is just the Angelina of Eccie we will all have a better more entertaining time here

Aw, snap! Is Whispers really the Dump around here? At worst, he's Ronnie: Does whatever he wants, then convinces his bottom bitch to take him back and that he loves her even when she catches him cheating.

But often, it seems that every thread is a DRAMA thread. It's hard to get on this board and avoid it. It has made a lot of the non-vocal majority not even want to bother reading the boards anymore (other than ads and reviews) -- let alone post. It shrinks the number of voices because only those willing to fight or be fought are the ones that post. For anyone that ever enjoyed pleasant conversation in co-ed, things have definitely taken a turn for the worst -- basically since Amber's death. And the OP is expressing what I have heard time and time and time and time again. I would say just about every 3rd session I have, a hobbyist will bring up how much they hate the co-ed discussion forum in Austin because of how contentious it gets. They bring this up on their own -- it's not a conversation I start. And a good portion of those hobbyists mention the same few posters that they wish would just take a chill pill and stop being so dog gone mean.

I hear ya! But the truth is: If you want the drama to stop, stop reading it.

If you know that Coed is nothing but drama, then you are acknowledging by clicking on the forums that you expect and wish to read drama (and eventually, perhaps, participate in it).

No one who truly wants to avoid drama in their lives can't get rid of it. Sure, you may have to just sit inside your room all day and do absolutely nothing, but by leaving your room, you are acknowledging that you would rather deal with the drama than go through the steps to avoid it.

I recently started using the ignore function to ignore posters that thrive on attention and negativity. It's really made a huge difference.

Snoopdogg, thank you for starting this thread. There is a need to stand up.

I'm not looking for love or drama. I think the hobby is best understood as a friendly business transaction.

I object to the denigration of anyone anywhere, and that includes women in sexwork -- no one forfeits their humanity when they take an honest job. If anyone talked about Blacks or Jews or Poles or ... the way some around here talk about women -- as commodities who'd better not get uppity -- modern people would be up in arms. The casual denigration of women disgusts me.

That's my whole point. Many if not most of the former frequent readers and participants in co-ed discussions have stopped visiting the forum altogether because they don't want drama.

Maybe we need a fighting room where it's no holds barred say what you want bitching, moaning and arguing. And then we can have another forum for people who want to be a little less negative. A LOT of other hobby boards have a rant room. The people who want to watch the train wreck go there and then there is a place left for people who just want to talk to each other in a civil manner.

That's bull. Nobody has stopped visiting these forums. Most can't wait to log on to read up on the latest drama. Many do not participate in this drivel because they have a life and better things to do.

We are obviously talking to different people. But please don't accuse me of making shit up. I can easily think of over 10 people who have told me or posted elsewhere that they have stopped visiting this forum because of the drama.

I would agree with that but unfortunately the Attack Packers do not want participation by people other than themselves and those who want to join the Pack. They want an All Male Auditorium. They don't want to hear what women think. They do not enjoy "pleasant conversation in coed" because they do not like women. Please don't ask me why they are here in the first place - I do not know.

You are quite right that there are a great many people, of both sexes, who are very tired of the Packers' bully tactics and their lust for confrontation. But they don't know what to do. I think ignoring the Pack is the best thing but it is hard to ignore such strenuous and persistent provocation.

johnnytx, very well put. I have not been here long, but started dabbling in the hobby because I have a genuine appreciation for women. I truly at times do not understand the venom that is directed at women here.

I thought that they were the reason we're all here.

This is nothing more than insecure people craving and getting attention. They enjoy the attention they get by whatever means regardless of subject or topic. They don't get enough in real life so they come here to get it by being petty, rude and disrespectful. These are bitter, mean and spiteful people.

We've all seen it many times. The best way to address them is to simply ignore them and don't respond. Reaction and controversy is their drug. Lack of which is their Achilles heal.

I too have met many people in the hobby that simply don't participate, me for one, that could add tremendous value but choose not get involved because it's counter to their needs in the hobby and they simply don't need to deal with all the negativity. Eccie suffers because of it and ultimately the hobbiest. It turns a lot of people off.

Sophia, 10 people, and that's probably a stretch, out of 3500 viewers. Not too high a percentage. So, who is the vocal minority majority?
