Money is already an issue and long has been.
So, where is there a majority that favors secession?

Of course states have a right to secede. We seceded from Britain. But like most all of our rights, there will be a fight from those who want to deny freedom. Even though we are "endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights", we will only keep those we are willing to fight for.

Not that I favor secession, which is stupid, but...
... Mexico can't take back the border cities from drug cartels, never mind taking Texas.

Perhaps they would support our independence movement to payback the United States for taking property which was originally theirs!!
It would be an awkward pronouncement from the United States government to basically say either remain a part of our liberty and freedom loving beacon of hope for the world, or we will kill you.

We could make him our first President, all due respect to Sam Houston, of course.
How can any of you people deny us the right to self determination?

But, look who the first ones are that talk about cutting and running when things aren't going their way.
Texas would last about six months or so after seceding before descending into chaos. Think about it. No border patrol. No FEMA when a hurricane or a tornado blows a town down. No air traffic controllers. No national guard. No postal service. No federal funding for highways or traffic safety. No federal funding for education. No social security checks for the millions that currently received those. What currency would we use? What would back up the currency. Banks without federal guarantees for depositors? What would happen to the military bases? How about San Antonio losing Fort Sam Houston, Lackland, Randolph Air Force Base all in one day? Think that might crash a local economy?
It's idiotic and it's never going to happen.
Oh, and by the way, it's illegal as well.

This is exactly it. When it's something they agree with, we should just get over it, but when it's showing they don't agree with, it's time to secede. Fucking hypocrite douchebags.

¿Y si lo nombramos la República de Tejas e hicimos nuestro idioma español oficial? Podríamos cabrear a esos malditos gringos, ¿no?

Texas secession from Mexico
The Republic of Texas successfully seceded from Mexico in 1836 (this, however took the form of outright rebellion against Mexico, and claimed no warrant under the Mexican Constitution to do so). Mexico refused to recognize her revolted province as an independent country, but the major nations of the world did recognize it. In 1845, Congress admitted Texas as a state. The documents governing Texas' accession to the United States of America do not mention any right of secession—although they did raise the possibility of dividing Texas into multiple states inside the Union. Mexico warned that annexation meant war and the Mexican–American War followed in 1846.[63]

Yes, because Texas won the War. If Santa Anna had crushed the Texas Army at SanJacinto, we would all be speaking Spanish here in Texas. (Well, the 1/2 that don't now would be)

There is a little more to it than that. After the dictator of Mexico was defeated he was forced (either sign the title or die) to sell off that portion of Mexico that is now part of Texas. It was all legal. In exchange for his life, Santa Anna got to go home to Mexico and the Texicans stayed in their new state.
Besides, the Texas National Guard would make short work of the Mexican army. Especially if they got kill all those drug cartel members and terrorists on the border. If you would look it up you'll find that the Texas National Guard both an army and air force section, a WMD section, special ops, drones, and coast guard. Texas has a pretty potent guard and many of the members have seen service in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
The Mexican army has a total of 280,000 men and women, many are draftees with only limited training. Their ships are former US ships that are a minimum of 30 years old.

"Are willing", you want us to divine the future?
Your "majority of people are willing" is a bullshit standard = even in the American Revolution I don't think the "majority" of colonists initially supported succession; the Boston Tea Party (the match that ignited the American Revolution) had little support and was widely condemned by many colonists.................but if you have a Pew Poll to support your bullshit, please post.

Name one state where the majority of people are willing to secede over ANY issue (not just gay marriage) or any COMBINATION of issues.
There isn't one. NOT EVEN TEXAS.

True. Probably about 40 percent of the Colonist wanted any part of the whole affair. Most of the remainder were sort of like the population now. Clueless.

You re the one making the case for secession, asshole, so YOU point it out.
And asking where there IS a state in which a majority favors secession isn't divining the future, mope. That is the HERE and NOW.
But it is interesting that you say a "majority" is a bullshit standard. That typically is the way the left thinks. Good to know what page you are on.
