The word bitch-used to create a huge problem for me. Some folks think I'm a bitch. Sometimes I can be. Just don't ever call me a bitch to my face-it will get you bitch slapped. Oh wait, I'm from Philly-I used a closed fist
In the middle of an appointment once, the guy says "you're my nasty little bitch aren't you?" That did not end well.
That word got me in more fights than I care to count. My ex-husband was 6'1 240 pounds. He called me a bitch ONCE. When he regained conciousness at the bottom of the stairs, his response was "damn, I didn't know I married Mike Tyson." I gently reminded him that I hit hard. He never called me a bitch again.
But over the years, I have come to embrace the term. Years ago I caught a lot of slack over something I posted on the "A" about the term. But once I read it, it made a lot of sense. Now the word does not bother me so much. Here it is:
Bitch
When I stand up for myself and my beliefs, they call me a BITCH.
When I stand up for those I love, they call me a BITCH.
When I speak my mind, think my own thoughts or do things my own way,
they call me a BITCH.
Being a BITCH means I won't compromise what's in my heart. It means I live my life MY way. It means I won't allow anyone to step on me. When I refuse to tolerate injustice and speak against it, I am defined as a BITCH. The same thing happens when I take time for myself instead of being everyone's maid, or when I act a little selfish.
It means I have the courage and strength to allow myself to be who I truly am and won't become anyone else's idea of what they think I "should" be. I am outspoken, opinionated and determined.
I want what I want and there is nothing wrong with that! So try to stomp on me, try to douse my inner flame, try to squash every ounce of beauty I hold within me. You won't succeed. And if that makes me a BITCH, so be it. I embrace the title and am proud to bear it.
B - Babe
I - In
T - Total
C - Control of
H - Herself
Call me a Bitch 'cause I speak what's on my mind. Guess it would easier for you to swallow if I sat and smiled and said nothing.
So now, it's Ms. Bitch to you!
