Does video exist showing the peaceful demonstrations and the inappropriate police response, and was the response so ordered by the Chief?

You miss the point.
The failure is not hers alone. The failure in the case of the City of Dallas wouldn't be ANY one persons failure. The issues go way deeper than any one person can fix. City Hall is a clusterfuck. Pay for officers, considering the size of the city, is just "okay" (Cincinnati starts out at the same level and is about 1/3 the size). There has been decades of issues with corruption and issues with pension funds.
She was absolutely the wrong hire-- but I don't think the "right" hire would have fared much better.

So then we have more folks saying "SEE-- SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO A DIVERSITY HIRE"
Meanwhile-- had they really been interested in a good "diversity" hire-- there are qualified people that could actually handle the job. But-- often times they aren't actually looking for a great <insert job position here>. They're looking for a scapegoat. Because they know that one hire isn't going to fix the issues-- but they don't want one of their own looking bad.

This has to be literally the stupidest post I've ever seen.
Really? You think business folks sit around and figure out how to actively sabotage their own operations so they can blame the darkie? REALLY? You obviously haven't hired any salaried executives or management in your life. That's so completely ridiculous that anyone with a weeks worth experience at a job above cashier can figure this is bullshit.
Business organizations suffer enough from sheer incompetence and ego driven decision making. No business would survive that type of hiring practice - that's why you know it doesn't happen.
It's not that you liberals don't know anything... it's just the stuff you do know is WRONG.
Seriously the stupidest comment.

The right person can make a huge difference, even against a bunch of assholes trying to thwart them. We should stop the fixation with skin color and sex and hire on merit.
The other issues you spoke about will still be there anyway. Heck, I hate about every third white guy yet I'm accused of being a racist anyway. Social interactions and relationships are hard enough without this relentless fixation both sides have with race.

Grace was posting about the topic, the Dallas Police force. a taxpayer-funded public entity. the argument you present has nothing to do with her view point. The Good ole boys in DPD don't have to worry about profits. You should understand.. ''The Deep State'', and all that?

Chung... you should stick to AMP lineups... hard to fuck that up. but if you want to jump in and defend the stupid comment be my guest. go read the comment again. She wasn't talking about DPD... she was writing in general terms. It's quite evident... even the use of the word "meanwhile" to convey that more specific issues with DPD.
Saying that people make affirmative action hires so that when things fail they can be blamed is the stupidest thing I've ever seen written. People make affirmative action hires because they HAVE to. They are skipping otherwise qualified candidates in order to have one the LOOKS like a minority. The fail is completely normal. In fact the surprise should be when an Affirmative action hire DOESN'T fail.
There's plenty of scholarship on the issue. Minorities that get Affirmative action anything are at a disadvantage because all the rest of us know why they get the job/slot etc.
Even Obama. He won because he was Black. He was such a loser, he made Jimmy Carter look like a Decisive Patriot. Of course, no one can say that in public. To disparage a black as incompetent is considered racist. But the REALLY racist thing is to say an incompetent black woman should have the job 'cause she's got good skin color and a vagina.
I don't care if they give it to a pink transgender amazon. If they are tough on violent crime, and enforce the laws then that's all I give a shit about. I don't need my color to be represented. I need my humanity to be represented...

I’m sorry but who thinks like this besides a liberal.
I ran a fairly large company for over 20 years. Not once did I ever hire someone based on sex or race. Every hire ever made was first based on ability. Once the candidates met the ability standard, we evaluated the personalities of the qualified candidates to determine if they would match well with the employees they would be working with. Once I had it narrowed down, my favorite thing to look at was the candidates hobbies. Yo can learn a lot about a person there. Following those guidelines, our businesses maintained a completely diverse group of individuals who were like minded and worked well together. Out of the hundred or so employees at a time, if they were all black or all white or a various mix, it did not matter to me or my customers.
Diversity can be a strength but it is not the factual basis behind the strength. Productive people who can function in society while not obsessing about race is our strength.

You're confusing the business world with the government world. You've got people in the government world who are absolutely PISSED about having to hit % when it comes to diversity. I spent my first few working years working in HR-- I've seen it.
Did you know that there are employers now who will look up your voting history so that they can get an idea of your political alliances?

Excuse me but I was referring to your outright racist statement that the "good ole boy network" aka whites, will make a "diversity hire" aka. minority, in this case black. You then go one to describe how the whites put the black hire in a position to fail so that when the fail the whites can't be blame. If that's not what you intended you need to reread what you wrote. It's pretty much obvious the way you spelled it out.
Hiring quotas is discrimination and yes the government is guilty of biased hiring but I don't think they are hiring to intentionally set up a course of failure.

I'm interested to know how they would know who I voted for in any given election. Sure they could look up my party affiliation or political donations... but voting? yeah I'd like to hear more about this reason for never hiring another liberal again.

Yeah-- sorry-- I meant affiliation as opposed to whom you actually voted for. I've actually left a job over being told that a candidate wasn't a "good fit" because they had a history of voting Republican. No joke. Was the dumbest shit I've ever seen. I've since been informed by a few folks in HR that it is more common than one would think-- on both sides of the aisle.
Man-- I don't give a fuck who you vote for... if your history, skills, abilities, and experience makes you the person for the job-- that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.

I can’t understand why Chung or Grace Preston waste time engaging with you. Your ignorance, and racist thought process makes any rational counter view point Incomprehensible to you.

I disagree. Sapper isn't a bad guy. He sees the world as he sees it. As do we all. There are a lot of folk on both sides of the political fence that question the continued benefits of some affirmative action policies. I won't call him a racist for that.
There are some guys on my street who feel that Affirmative Action in and of itself is racist-- as though they're being told that they cannot make it without a helping hand.
