I've never understood the media falling to "Yinz" as the default spelling of "Younze".

I think that "Younze" has been shortened to only four letters for less to type, clearly, I have spent much time in the low rent areas of Pittsburgh, and by necessity, have to understand the dialect, perhaps, my experiences were first in neighborhoods, where some effort was made to slur the english language the proper way.

I think the person who first tried to reproduce what he just heard, and write it down, had a hairlip, and mistakenly wrote "Yinz" instead of the proper phonic spelling of "Yoonz".

I worked in Buffalo with a girl from Pittsburgh... and I thinck "yoonz" best describes the word phonetically. I prefer to write it "yinz".
