Third Ebola patient in Dallas!

We have to expect more people in the general population will get ebola. It won't be shut down completely. What's more troubling is health care workers getting it. That part we should be able to control. Maybe they didn't use proper precautions. If they did use proper precautions and still got ebola then that's a major concern. That simply shouldn't happen.

And she won't be liable even if someone else does get Ebola. The quarantine was voluntary, so she did not break any law. And she has to intend for someone to get ill or be reckless to the danger of it.

If you have HIV and deliberately have unprotected sex with someone, you can be liable if that person gets sick because of the high risk of transmission.

But, unless you are coughing or puking, if it very difficult to spread Ebola. So you aren't going to be able to make a case that someone who did not have symptoms was being reckless when she ran out to get a sandwich.

FYI Gladfly, the nurse called the CDC before she got on the plane. She told the CDC that she had a mild temperature of 99.5 F. Their documentation at the time that she called states that you can't fly if your temperature is 101.5 or higher. So the CDC representative gave her the okay to fly. Try to do some homework before you throw someone under the bus.

You have forgotten that the doctor works for NBC. She puts them on the hook for her actions. She should be fired by NBC to protect themselves and she should lose her license for violating her oath, "First, do no harm".

No, NBC is not on the hook for her actions. Any more than your employer would be if you spread disease while mopping floors.

Please cite an example where a company got sued successfully because its employee spread a contagious disease to someone else. And we aren't talking about food poisoning here - like salmonella - where the company is responsible for not wiping down surfaces.

We don't allow people to sue for getting contagious diseases because it is difficult to prove with certainty who gave it to you and because the court system would collapse.

Basically no one knows for sure. Maximum precautions need to be taken and travel bans need to be implemented immediately. If we can't effectively screen all incoming international flights then those need to be suspended too.
