The parent to kid ratio was one frazzled mother, her 3 yrs old son and FOUR other kids. She's a daycare teacher. I think a 3 or 4 yo would know better than to run off and climb a fence. I was afraid of my mother! Even at that age. If my sister or I left her side on a outside trip, we'd get a public spanking.
It happened years ago in England, and the boy cracked his skull and broke an arm from the fall, but the dominant silver back stood guard over him and wouldn't let the juveniles drag him around and kill him.Actually, it may have been the dominant female gorilla. I think it was. And she even kept the silver back away. Then when the paramedics got there, he shooed all the gorillas into their nighttime gated shelter. The boy is grown now and I saw it on a show about hero animals. That zoo had to raise their fence too!
