I am not posting here much anymore and I gave my reason why but this OP has a point. People get away with fucking murder in the sandbox and others get points for simple mistakes. As Bam stated though "life is not fair" so I said "fuck it" and I will rarely post. But it would be wonderful if at the very least the mods were on the same page.

I don’t think the OP was referring to infractions but that the Pittsburgh forum allows political threads in their Sand box and other city forums don’t. The fairness of infractions is a whole different subject. That isn’t worth debating either. It is what it is. Members here don’t decide what is fair. Trust me, when it comes to infractions, I know what I’m talking about!

Many other forums cannot have political threads. So why is PITTSBURG allowed? As I've stated. The board is supposed to have same guidelines enforced equally board wide. Whether we're talking about guidelines or what's allowed to be posted where. All forums should be the same. As far as I see pitt is the only one left posting political threads. Why is this? A change should be made to only allowing political threads in the natty forum. Then all forums are equal. And politics is in one place.
I just noticed this. The OP can’t spell PITTSBURGH correctly!!!!!! If you can’t spell it correctly, don’t bitch!!!! There’s a fucking H in PITTSBURGH!!!! Go back to Austin and bitch to them. GTFOH!!!!

Well that got out of hand quickly.

Who woulda thunk?

Whatever any of us thinks about what the RIGHT answer to the OP's question (pun intended. who woulda thunk) does anyone posting here actually think Eccie would be a better place by deleting this discourse?

Triggered? So it's OK others do without the same privileges pitt enjoys?
Let's all enjoy the same privileges that pitt does or move it all to the natty forum. That's fairness.
Sorry about the h.. but no reason to be insulting.

Red herring. Not the advocated position.

Very true Bam. Read what you want, talk about what you want. As I noted earlier - every area of the country is different and what the locals like to discuss in their Sandbox varies from area to area. That said, other areas do discuss politics. Not just Pittsburgh

One of the few times I have agreed with Ninja. As anyone can see from my signature line, IMO free speech is our greatest right as citizens. And while businesses can choose to restrict speech, good businesses (and yes ECCIE is a business) don't typically chase off their customers. The site has been losing popularity and visits as is - so why would one advocate for eliminating subjects people want to talk about here?

Oh, I was just busting your balls a little bit, no biggie. I guess it’s not fair to poke a little fun on ECCIE. Years ago, before you were here, we asked Pistolero to change the name from sandbox to litter box. It took awhile but he changed it. So PittsburgH was the only city on ECCIE to have their sandbox called the litter box. Mebbe we’re special. But then it was changed back. I’m sure B1 is reading this thread. Have you contacted him directly and ask him to eliminate politics from the Pittsburgh sandbox? It seems this is important to you. Go to the top. Get it done.

Default It was a direct question...

If your only effort here it to be contrary or attempt to dictate the thought process feel free to leave me out of it.

The OP advocates a singular position:

"I believe all political threads should be in the national forum."

I disagree but more to the point this concept would involve removing areas of discussion that currently exist so for me without good cause its a NO on that element alone.

Further I believe the OP is motivated by something other than fairness so I will continue to speak on that so long as the discussion continues.

My question was directly on point. For anyone who might offer an answer I shall ask it again...

"does anyone posting here actually think Eccie would be a better place by deleting this discourse?" referring specifically to removing political discussion from any local forum

We do not often agree and freedom to speak and express ourselves is a foundational concept that I embrace. We have the right to disagree. A few reasonable guidelines to inspire engagement do not infringe upon our freedom and I get why some feel those rules are not enforced fairly. This will always be true in political discussion someone will feel their view is not allowed the same consideration but overall I find this forum provides for a good level of discourse and would like to see it continue.

So is it fair for the many that have had their ability to discuss political threads in other forums taken away.
But pitt still has this ability.
The board has stated that everything going forward will be applied equally across all forums.
Again I introduce the only 2 options to rectify this situation. All forums get that same right as pitt or move it all to natty.
If it's all moved to natty what's the difference? I strongly don't believe this is eliminating discussion. It's still there. In one place. Very myopic view in only thinking about yourselves in pitt. Fairness is for all. Not just pitt. My God it's like a broken record from some . Get on board on restoring all forums abilities to discuss what pitt can.

He believes that, yes.

He's also comfortable with all locations having politics in the Sandbox and confirmed so.

That's the beauty of conversation fleshing out the point. It requires listening. He's advocating for a multi-option solution. He's pushing A and very open to being able to accept B. Neither of which delete. One restricts where. The other massively opens up where political threads can be posted.

Which is why deleting or removing discourse is a red herring. It's about either redirecting the venue OR applying the same practices here to the other Sandboxes.

Don't harp on Post 1 and ignore Post 4

I say this as both a paying member and someone who knows you two are having this convo on 2 different threads there and here. And I know it's pissing on a rope. Still worth a chat.

Come to the natty and bust my balls. Bring the other echo chambers members.
Another good reason to have all political discussions under one staff member. Many other reasons to move it all to natty as well.
Folks in sandboxes that are dominated by political threads ad nausem do not post other fun non political threads because they get drowned out. That's driven and driving many away. That's been proven. So talk about discouraging discourse!
Give the sand boxes back to the locals and move all political threads to natty. That WOULD help to increase participation in non political forums.
The total move to natty would help staff as well. It's a win win. That solves many on going problems for many.
