Yes. Didn't say I was an expert, and I have not seen ANYONE, including you, that has offered a viable solution that would "ensure the outright security of children or staff"....
No one will or can "ensure the outright security of children or staff if they encounter a situation like this or prevent the situation that happened" and to propose their solution can is fraud. But just because no one, including you, can offer a viable solution to do so does not mean that an effort can be made to IMPROVE existing systems ...
ALL "systems" on paper are tested by the reality and not the hype ... now that the "system" in Connecticut has been shown not to work it is time to "re-design" ... what was apparently missing were police officers trained for school environments AND perimeter security to assure that people coming to the campus are restricted and screened prior to coming into the facility where students and staff are housed.
As for "ideas" the media is full of them, because other school districts are currently announcing their reviews of their existing sytems for school security.
Are you in favor of the "prison system" solution as you proposed?
