Oh wait, wrong draft.
Reggie reminded me a little of Sweetness this weekend. I didn't know he could be that physical.

I am curious, did you believe that Rice and/or Greene would be a better fit for the Texans than Brian Cushing and Connor Barwin? Remember, you are making your decision not in hindsight but with full knowledge that you had a solid 1600+ yard running back returning to your backfield! That coupled with the fact that on draft day 2009 the Texans offense was considered to be a team strength. Meanwhile the Texans team defense was in serious need of immediate attention! If you still felt that Rice or Greene were better fits for the Texans than Cushing and Barwin on draft day 2009 and you had prior knowledge that the Texans would get less than 850 rushing and receiving yards from Steve Slaton in 2009, perhaps you should consider logging onto www.houstontexans.com and applying for the GM job. Who knows, you might be able to convince the Texans owner to shit-can Rick Smith and hire you! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Good luck!

The texans wanted Shonne Greene but the jets took him before the texans could draft him. The Texans have drafted really good during the smith/ Kubiak era. It's the knuckleheads before them that really hurt the franchise. Think about 2005 nfl draft. One of the worst in the decade.

You nailed that one.

3/73 (from Dallas) Vernand Morency Running back Oklahoma State
4/114 Jerome Mathis Wide receiver Hampton
5/151 Drew Hodgdon Center Arizona State
6/188 C.C. Brown Safety Louisiana-Lafayette
7/277 Kenneth Pettway Linebacker Grambling

Arian Foster is cut from the same mold as some of those backs that came out of the Broncos system. The O-line looked like they were starting to figure the system out in the last few games as well. Bring in a little free agent competition in the backfield and O-line and I think they will show considerable improvement.
They still need to be able to get after the QB. Man, I wish Mario had Cushing's heart!

I meant one of the worst in the decade for the whole nfl. I went back and looked at all the drafts and Any swinging dick could have done what Charley and Dom did. They were bad. I thank my lucky stars they didn't fuk up the Andre Johnson pick.

The sports fans of Texas really crack me up. 90% of the fans here are bandwagoners. Reggie Bush has had a sub par NFL career, and not worth being a top draft pick. Yes, he had a great game this past weekend. He was due, but one good game, everybody thinks he should have been here.
He's a great return man, and THIS YEAR the Saints realized he's best catching a screen pass, and he's been good at that, but he is not a good running back. He has yet to hit a 1000 yard rushing season. Even Slaton rushed for 1200 yards last year. Bush, this past year, has only rushed for 390 yards on 70 carries. He did get 335 receiving yards. Still, only 725 yards is NOT a top-notch career everybody should drool over.

I felt from the beginning that Reggie Bush should have been the Texans pick that year. When they decided to go with Mario, I was disappointed at first but I understood the rationale behind the decision. With that said, there is no way that Reggie Bush has not had as consistent of a pro career as Mario. In hindsight I agree with you, Mario was a much better choice for the Texans than Reggie would have been.
As for Mario not having Brian Cushing's heart, that is probably true. But how many players in the NFL have Brian Cushing's heart? The guy is a beast in pads and the 2nd best draft pick in Texans history!

I would go with Ryan Mathews RB Stanford. I think he will be around or Gerhart. Bottom line, we have to get a running game.

I'd love them to pick Gerhart.
He would really fit the bigger guy pound it in style.
But I doubt that he will still be there when we pick.

There will be other big backs in this draft and they will be available later on.
Bigtex msy have something, a top notch safety or defensive tackle or end would be nice in the first round.
With so many juniors declaring for the draft, there will be plenty of talent to be taken in the lattter rounds.
Plenty of quality offensive guards will also be available in the lower rounds so we can provide some depth, which we sorely needed last year.
