Default LBJ

Can't most of the "welfare state mentality", where we now have 4th and 5th generation famillys mired in perpetual poverty, living in Government housing projects, and depending on the Government for their "paycheck", be blamed on the policies of LBJ.?

"The Great Society". Yeh, how's that working out??

LL, I agree! From a legislative perspective, Obama is no LBJ. But as I correctly pointed out earlier, LBJ has few peers in that arena. However, from a foreign policy perspective, LBJ was no Obama. Vietnam was a foreign policy nightmare. Say what you will, Obama had enough vision to shift our focus from an ill advised mission in Iraq to placing a dagger in al Qaeda's heart. For that, I give Obama credit.

As for the time I have spent in Austin during the past two years, it is safe to say that it has been quite lucrative for me. I doubt that I will be leaving anytime soon!

What you see is what you get! You might as well get used to it!

Now lets see if Obama has "enough vision" to not seek a 2nd term, as did LBJ.

Or will he allow his over-inflated ego to continue to make his decisons.

As the "Obama-Care" gets systmatically dismantled on Consitutional grounds, one wonders exactly what he was "teaching" at Chicago.

BTW: He was a part-time lecturer at Chicago in a non-tenured position.

Sounds like his Presidency. What you voted for, BT, is what you get.

Part-timer with an over-inflated ego.

I would argue that every POTUS has an over-inflated ego. Otherwise they would not be able to climb to the top of the food chain!

As for his chances for re-election, the jury is still out! I might add that the jury is still out on whether I will support a second Obama term. Yes, I am disappointed! I certainly would not write Obama off yet. He has a sizable war chest and it appears he will not have a primary opponent. If that is the case, he will have a significant money advantage heading into the fall 2012 elections.

Yes, it is entirely possible for the eventual Republican opponent to emerge victorious in 2012. Their collection of candidates reminds me of the 2004 Democratic candidates. According to polls, the only Republican candidate who matches up favorably with Obama is Romney and he will have difficulty getting out of the Republican primary. The rest of the announced Republican candidates are lightweights.

Before you throw out Perry's name, I would have to believe that America wants nothing more to do with another Texas Governor for a very long while. Talk about over-inflated egos, Perry wrote the book! Due to the weak field, I suspect their best chance for an electoral victory in November of 2012 would be for a viable Independent candidate to emerge from the Left! If that were to occur, anything is possible. Nader has already proven that once!

With all due respect, we have enough time to muse over the subject of 2012 and the viability or nonviability of this one over that one. I am not viewing the current fiasco as a prelude to 2012 General Elections ... or even leverage.

I am more interested in the long term financial well being of this country than I am pollsters and Monday-morning-quarterbacks. And that is not built on the entitlements invisioned by the bankrupt Californians or their partners the Yankees to the East.

It's time middle America, aka the heartland, took back our country.

OMG! The world is coming to an end! I have to agree with everything BigTex said.

As much as my dislike is for Obama, I don't see anyone in the republican party pulling away from the pack.

I made a decision to "muse over the subject of 2012" after your obvious attempt to "muse over the subject of 2012" with the following statement. "Obama has enough vision to not seek a 2nd term, as did LBJ."

I guess that just goes to show, one good "muse" deserves another! Or would you prefer to be the only one with "muse" privileges?

So when will you be posting your "one good muse"?

FYI: Mine had nothing to do with Obama's "re-election" ..

... it was about his "vision" as compared to LBJ's on the same topic.

Hopefully the Democrats will find someone qualified this time for the job.

Why should they? It did not seem to bother the Republicans when they failed to "find someone qualified this time for the job" in 2004. Perhaps it is true, "turnabout is fair play!"

Will the above count as my "one good muse?" If so, we should be just about even!

Turnabout is fair play in politics that affects our very lives? Again, I am going to refer back to my statement about people needing to relearn the branches of our government and their roles. It irks me that people would much rather go back to petty rants from schoolyard days saying things such as "Oh yeah, well he did it too." When dealing with the future of our country, to have such mentalities at work serves to endanger our future even more. Regardless of party affiliation, I think it is an easy notion to realize that SPENDING must be cut. We have a spending problem and that is it. There is plenty of money coming in the system, but the government continues to grow and spend and grow and spend. If any of us ran our homes like this, we would all be homeless in no time. I don't think its much to ask our representatives to have the common decency and intelligence to understand such simple economic ideas.

By the Democrats' standards in 2008, ...

.... the Republican candidate in 2004 was over qualified.
