You do. You were the one who said it was the "funniest thing of all" and then went on to spend the bulk of your post pointing out that her not knowing where Egypt was proved how stupid she was and how she should have gotten an education.

Totally agreed. However, I was not the one who incorrectly placed Egypt in the ME while, simultaneously, insulting someone's intelligence for correctly placing Egypt in Africa.

Good for you. Doesn't change the fact that, by your own words, you must have "skipped World Geography 101" because you don't know what continent Egypt is on.

how many here could correctly label all 50 states today, now? yeah you mighta been able to do that in school, could you do it now?
Probably not. But, again, I am not the one insulting someone for screwing up geography while doing it myself.

You were the one who used the adjective "funny," I just followed the wording. Don't get upset with me for using your words, I was sticking with context in an attempt to make sure you understand what we are talking about.

From the time of Ptolemy the Egyptian royalty was hereditary Greek. Ptolemy was a Greek general who lay claim to Egypt, and this included what we call Israel, Gaza, Jordan, and parts of Lebanon, after Alexander died. So if this girl was talking geography then she was correct but if she is talking culture then she is less than correct.
Using similar logic, one could argue that - at least - neither Egypt, Libya, Algeria nor Morocco are part of Africa. That would mean that roughly 18% of Africa's land is not in Africa, culturally. The reality is that Africa is a very large and diverse continent, including culturally. If we could arbitrarily say parts of it are not of Africa because the culture is different from other parts of it, then we could argue that nothing is in Africa.

But you would be the supercilious ignoramus believing that Egypt is not considered part of the Middle East, eatbibeau. You must have "skipped World Geography 101", eatbibeau.

You're right. I didn't mean to say it wasn't in the ME, only that it was definitely in Africa. Thanks for the correction.

But why not direct this same insult at Waco? He incorrectly put Egypt outside of Africa. Is he also a "supercilious ignoramus" for believing Egypt is not part of Africa?

No, he won't do that.

Yours sounds like the same kind of logic out of Half Moon Bay. Their school system wanted to forge new ties with Muslims a few years ago so....they forced their students to dress like Arabs. Never mind that there are Christian Arabs and the largest group of Muslims are Indonesian. No, it their little minds Arab is Muslim and Muslim is Arab. Egyptian culture is only African culture in terms of geography. Same thing about people wanting to give credit to Islam for what Arabs did 500 years BEFORE Islam came on the scene.

What is "African culture?" It's a huge continent with over a billion people, many different ecosystems and with a huge variety of different cultures.

The idea that there is an "African culture," of which 15% of its population isn't even part of, makes no sense.

You could make the same statement about white people. Some are sophisticated and conservative, others are liberal. Some are homosexuals, and others are lesbians. Some support Trump, some hate him. Some like black people, a few dislike them. Many of them hate themselves and other white people. Some are trashy, some are Goths, others are slobs.
Some like opera, others like Nascar. Some drink wine, others are whiners. Some are Christian, some are Jewish, some are Buddhist, etc. Some are filthy pigs.
White people and white culture have tremendous diversity.

And if he had said "white culture," I would be following the same line of inquiry. What's your point?

Although, that being said, if you were to say something like "white american culture," that would be a group of less than 200 million people, in a much more geographically (yet still diverse) area. That would make a lot more sense than trying to generalize the culture for over a billion people, over a much larger area with much more diverse political divisions.

Thank you for making my point. That last paragraph was well written.

Maybe i don't give a fuck where Egypt is? i do care where America is .. in the shithouse and heading toward the Black Hole of socialism

that kid actually looks like a homeless bum with those dreads on his noggin. but that doesn't give that woman the right to accuse him of "appropriating her culture".

it's not her culture to begin with. and what about every black person that straightens their hair? who's culture are they appropriating?

When you think of Egypt, the first thing that comes to your mind is "Middle East".
