I’m sure I don’t need to say this for anyone that actually knows me, but I never threatened to out anyone - here or anywhere, ever. That has been threatened against me twice in the past and I simply wouldn’t do it, even to a pimp. If the person with whom I communicated would like to RTM my PMs to let the mod squad decide, cool. A threat of outing requires conveyance of intent to reveal personal information, which I did not do in any way. My pen pal just appears to be misinformed about what outing means. Hardly surprising given their apparent lack of intellect.

Herpes simplex isn't a condition that generally requires a visit to the ER (IIRC it's possible that HSV might result in complications that would require emergency treatment).

However, in this <sarcasm>Greatest Of All Nations</sarcasm>, many, many people who don't have health insurance coverage have to use emergency rooms as their "primary care provider" because they can't get seen by a doctor any other way.

Absent further facts about the incident, I'd wager that's why she visited an ER for such a relatively minor complaint.

Eh, works of pimp fiction don't necessarily have to make any logical sense. But it is a tragic indictment of our health care system that anyone has to do that for any reason just so that they can get treated for an illness. But the unfortunate reality is that many in our society see poverty as a personal failing and so there's an undercurrent of thought that the poor don't deserve to be treated when they are sick because it's their own fault they are poor and can't get health insurance. That's how it looks to me anyway.
