You don't have to go rolling thunder just one bomb. We need to test our nuclear weapon stock pile anyway just to see if they still work.

I don't think anyone will be going in if someone lets a nuke go. If they did they'd probably wind up like those poor SOBs at Chernobyl.

They work. And we are the only folks that can effectively clean up.
For centuries the area know known as Afghanistan was a over land trade route. The Soviet interest, Pakistani, Indian, and now U.S. interest has been the movement of hydrocarbons from the Caspian basin overland with pipelines, and like the Alaskan experience the presence of pipelines can generate revenue, just like tolls on the trade routes. That was what Enron was doing in the mid-1990's over there, while building a power plant in India that would be run off natural gas.
If the recent news is accurate, and the reserves prove correct, recent discoveries of lithium will pay for their future well beyond our life times.

I'm all for getting the fuck out of Afghanistan, but not by cutting and running.
We need to get them on their feet after obliterating the fuck out of the insurgents.
Kill em all, set their govt up for success (ya know, those who are still alive lol) and then fucking leave.

Let's see the last time we nuked someone was Japan. It took two and they fell into place REAL fast. These Afghan's are just as stubborn. But we got better bombs now too. I say let's rip a few of the line

I'm calling BS on most of the crap that we are told as true.
They are playing the American people like fiddles.
OBL had a terminal disease years ago, they even said he was getting kidney dialysis for it. I say he's been dead for a while.
Why did they not show any photos of a dead OBL? They paraded the heads of Saddam Husseins two sons.
The names of the seal team was never released...why?
Now they will release the names, and give them hero worship.
This is all to get us pissed off and they can justify more war, IMO.
I'm not buying this shit. Yeah, I've been called a conspiracy theorist before.
But even some of you mentioned we'll never know the whole story, so you smell the shit too.
Thats just me, believe what you want.
Rant over.
Bring the boys back home Barry, as you promised in your campaign before being elected!
Okay, now I'm done.

#1, it took "us" over 50 years to find out the Gulf of Tonkin incident was bs.
#2, insurgents downed it with one rpg and "we" went in recovered all the bodies and were out unscathed... 30-40 bodies ...when they know "we" will come for the bodies ... should have looked like July 4 over the crash site.

I'm actually with you here on this one. I think Obama got strong intelligence that OBL was dead. Bush JR probably already knew he was dead but was saving the intel as a bargaining chip. He used that to his advantage and took out some random militant in Afghanistan. Maybe OBL wives were there, who knows.
And now that Seal Team 6 is dead, I have to wonder if they spoke to someone about it.

I started out this thread in an angry mood. A bunch of good and bad ass soldiers had been shot down, however it didn't make a difference if they were SEALS, Rangers, or regular soldiers.
I would like to take a minute or two for those who have posted almost anti-American conspiracy theories. It gave me a minute or two to laugh.

I'm a soldier...have been, currently am, and no matter my enlistment status, always will be.
Soldiers don't fight for beliefs, they don't fight for politics, they don't fight for revenge. We fight for the brother next to us, we fight because we're ordered to, and we don't ask why, we leave that to you bickering civilians who try and figure out the right and wrong of it while we kill and get killed for the luxury of your arguments.
Every soldier hates war. We hate it because we're good at it. We hate it because loving it makes us lose a part of our souls. We hate it because you order us to do it so your souls and your delicate sensibilities can stay intact. Make up your fucking minds and tell us what you want us to do, because while you all on both sides debate "cutting and running" versus "killing every terrorist in the world", we're dying out there...
...so fuck you all...
We're out here, keeping watch on Hadrian's Wall, while Rome is crumbling behind us...

I vote for cut and run.
Those that wanna stay and fight can....those that want people to stay and fight should pony up, pay their taxes for these wars and then go join an other Americans that want to settle in Afghanistan. Do like our forefathers did, "Move West young man!"
To recap....those that want us to double down in Afghanistan , pay more in taxes. Those in the military that think we should double down, go fight for free. Then we can call the people who volunteer for military service real volunteers instead of people that applied for a job got accepted and are now doing a job like everyone else in this country.

May as well lock this thread. Wakeup has spoken. Some of us try to show loyalty and remorse to those dying for our country and all we get is a "so fuck you all."

We like respect, we enjoy loyalty, but what every soldier would like much more is for you to put that into action. A lot of you have been there and done that. Tell us what to do! Either tell us to get out, or tell us to take the gloves off and let us kill bad guys, because this "sit here like a target and react to the enemy action" bullshit is just getting us killed.
DJ, we don't want your remorse. We want your orders. Make a decision and tell us what to do...because we're sitting out here while these politicians are sitting around in the rear fucking up our country...the country we're fighting for...

The fact is that the politicians are working very hard to destroy the country you're fighting for. America's problems can be traced to political stupidity on both sides of the aisle.

Gulf of Tonkin was an excuse for political expediency. It was recognized as such at at the time. It was presented to the Congress and the nation as a rational. If it's taken some people 50 yrs. to realize it what it was, well I can't help that.
From what little I've seen in the reports and the Media can't get either straight. The '47 (which by the way is a logistics helo) was either outbound or inbound either way though '47 has an outstanding lift capacity it's operating way above sea level. It had 38 aboard assuming the Shooters were were carrying 60-70lbs. of gear. It's not stated how far the hop was. Due to aircraft limitations at altitude and load factor it couldn't carry a full bag of gas. When RPGS hit it's very quick and violent. The warhead is quite powerful. I myself would not expect a 4th of July based on my experience. Despite what's depicted in the movies combat is very very quick. What may seem like 2 hrs may only in reality be 15min.
I'm getting way off subject here.Sorry.
