Nothing to do with each other. I am talking about a technical process that actually has nothing to do with the OS. If I can get access to your network traffic, I can find the MAC address of the originating device.

Also, I have been using pc's since DOS. I have never registered my computer with Microsoft. To get warranty, you may have to register with the manufacturer, but not Microsoft. How you pay for a pc is irrelevant. As soon. As you activate you OS License, Apple or Microsoft know about your device. Even using a Microsoft account doesn't give them any personal.info unless you decide to do so

I will say that P4P is getting better in Vegas and on par with price in DFW for similar quality. Weekends in Vegas is fine for me.

You have captured a MAC address but how do you associate that to John Doe's name. LE grabs the PC and tracing the Manuf. SN can link it to where the PC was sold and how it was bought (cash no trail). To convict someone of illegal activity with a PC you have to show proof that a name is associated with ownership of the PC.

You cannot restrict access to the mac address. That how every packet of information is able to reach you. No MAC, no communications. The key is I would have to have access to the network. No, it would not be worth the work just to track multiple handles. just pointing out its possable.

What your talking about is retricting access to a wireless network. Has nothing to do with network traffic. With all due respect, your knowlesge about this stuff is minimial and VERY incomplete. Please, do not offer advice to anyone on technicial matters.


If LE goes after you, where it was sold or how you paid for it will be the least of your worries. Paying cash will not help you in any way. There are many ways to track you down if the goverment wants to spend the time and resources to do so.
