Joffe had been fired for cause as an FBI confidential source, which means he'd Done A Very Bad Thing and the FBI had disassociated itself from him.
And from what I can discern from reports in the courtroom, the inference is that Joffe was fired as a CS before Sussmann made his approach to Baker on Sept. 19, 2016.
This implies that if Baker and the FBI had known this Alfa Bank stuff was coming from Joffe, it would have raised red flags and the FBI might not have accepted the Alfa Bank information.

They understand that they done shit the bed already and
wanna run away from this - as Trump has barristers
at the ready to seek legal and financial RETRIBUTION
for the wrongs done here.
When this all plays out - I don't see Trump being
generous enough to let this go.
