L-17 - Climate change occurs naturally - albeit slowly.

10-12K years ago - the last Ice age was ending - during which manhattan was covered with ice nearly half a mile thick.

earth has gone through multiple climate swings - from Ice ball planet to waterworld.

Climate changes - and teh world is warming - just how much is natural change and how much is man and carbon producetion - is unclar - and the radical fascist DPST's just know they already solved the problem with AOC's soylent green new Deal - despite the non participation of eh rest of teh world.

Scientists contend that at least two Snowball Earth glaciations occurred during the Cryogenian period, roughly 640 and 710 million years ago. Each lasted about 10 million years or so. The main evidence of the severity of these events comes from geological evidence of glaciers near the equator.

What would the Earth look like with no ice?

For years, scientists have thought that a continental ice sheet formed during the Late Cretaceous Period more than 90 million years ago when the climate was much warmer than it is today. Now, researchers have found evidence suggesting that no ice sheet formed at this time.Sep 24, 2013

Late Cretaceous Period was likely ice-free -- ScienceDaily

Yes. Earth has experienced cold periods (or “ice ages”) and warm periods (“interglacials”) on roughly 100,000-year cycles for at least the last 1 million years. The last of these ices ended around 20,000 years ago. Over the course of these cycles, global average temperatures warmed or cooled anywhere from 3° to perhaps as much as 8° Celsius (5°-15° Fahrenheit)

In New York, the ice that covered Manhattan was about 2,000 feet high before it began to melt in about 16,000 BC. The ice in the area disappeared around 10,000 BC. The ground in the New York area has since risen by more than 150 ft because of the removal of the enormous weight of the melted ice.

Highest elevation: Baffin ice sheet (Foxe Dome): ...

Status: Remnant: Greenland ice sheet

Terminus: North – Arctic Ocean; East – Baffin ...

Area: 10.2 and 11.3 by 106 square kilometres ...

That's why it's a waste of time debating Climate Change when the real problem is pollution. The issues of Pollution must be met first.

i've been saying that for over 20 years. nuclear power is the answer. they can scale the size of reactors now to make them much more cost effective. wind and solar are not reliable. hydro causes a lot of issues when you damn up a river. China is finding that out the hard way.

The bottom line is Pollution is induced by man. The climate isn't really changing it's just less pristine. Pollution is the real issue and Democrats never talk about that. They don't have any realistic solutions anyway they are too dam stupid.

nope. which means they are too obtuse to understand the real issue or don't really care to begin with. when the Lewis and Clarke expedition was in the area where Louisville is now they described the Ohio river as "pure blue water". you could drink from it. i wouldn't advise that today.

Yeah, Pollution is what we need to address not Climate Change. The idea of Climate Change being an existential threat is Liberal talk they aren't going to do anything to address Climate Change because they know the Climate isn't really changing and 97% of Climate Scientist know it too but money talks and bullshit walks.

The scientific question is exactly why is there a change .... up or down.

Quote:
....the large eruption of Mount Agung in 1963 produced aerosols which cooled the lower atmosphere by about 0.5°C, while solar activity levelled off after increasing at the beginning of the century....
And then there is a similar chart flow:
