Shouldn't be like it is for the players? The players need to be in the Ring of Honor prior to Hall of Fame ... it should be that way for the owners, too, the owners that have rings of honor or club hall of fames.

Depending on which JJ you mean, Pro.....
Jimmy brought two Lombardi's back to Dallas (three if we count the one that sofa-sitting, gun-toting Switzer is given credit). Maybe Jimmy deserves a place in the Ring of Honor first, hmmm?
Moving along.....long before "owner" Jerry Jones goes into the ROH, Clint Murchison should be enshrined.
Course, since (non-player) GM Tex Schramm is a member (along with Tom Landry)....then maybes its just a matter of time before "general manager" Jerry goes in.

Meant Jerry, Chateau...
I don't have a problem with him being in the Ring, as long as the years after his name are 1990 - 1995 only.
His son will prolly put him in when Jerry hands him the reigns in 20 years.
As for the Hall...why not. It's amazing he has increased the value of this team despite 20 years of blah...

Jerry's dementia surfaces good every so often. Stephen will have Jerry in assisted living in no time.

Could not agree more. Landry was sure he'd be fired after the 1964 season, but instead got a 10 year contract extension. Good point.

I think it is stupid for Jerry Jones to be considered for the Hall of Fame. The NFL is a 10 billion dollar business. Why? Because of it's fans is why. That's where the money comes from. Yeah, we won 3 super bowls with him but that was Jimmy Johnson's work and the championship caliber team he left for Barry Switzer. What has Jerry done for the fans the last 20 years? A goose egg because of his terrible GM work. I will only speak for myself but what is the only thing I care about? Winning, deep playoff runs and the excitement of a competitive professional football organization that almost always gives us fans a chance to see the cowboys compete for a super bowl like we had for let's see...umh, the 35 years before Jerry pushed Jimmy out and ran the franchise into the ground.
He built a new stadium (to me it's the worst stadium in the league), built a billion dollar Star center in Frisco (who cares) and made the wealthy owners like himself and Goodell allot of money. I thought the fans who make them all the money were suppose to be the most important thing to the league. Jerry clearly doesn't really care about us. He insisted on giving us fans a completely mediocre product for 20 straight years. Two playoff wins in 20 years. The 2014 season was fun but that was a lightning in a bottle fluke.
I don't get it!!! I don't know why that jerk Roger Goodell even listens to Jerry anymore. Jerry single handedly ruined one of the most important, historic and winning franchises in the league. But I guess nowadays we should know better. The only thing that matters to these guys is money. Jerry "the great HOF candidate PR marketer" sold the fans that actually fill the stadium since he took over just enough false hope (a bill of goods) that they kept coming back. Not me. I realized over 10 years ago this guy is crazy and the franchise was hopeless.
Maybe just maybe with Jerry getting old and soon forced to step away and with a brand new good quarterback this thing can finally get turned around. I hope so.

His $140 million investment is (according to Forbes) worth $4 Billion today. That increase is perceived value did not happen by accident or sheer luck.
Presently, the NFL is a $10 Billion Dollar Giant (and showing no signs of slowing down regardless what Mark Cuban says). That growth simply did not occur on it's own. More than Paul Tagliabue...and certainly light-years beyond Roger Goodell's feeble contributions....Jerry's impact on the NFL has been monumental. His footprint is as big as anyone's in the game (as a contributor).
If the HOF was left up to the other 31 team owners, they'd vote him in unanimously today.
Anyways....I think it's just a matter of time before his bust is in Canton. It'd be a hoot if Jimmy ended up being his presentor.

Your heaping all this praise on Jerry. Everything he has done was to make him and the league money while making the football team winning a low priority. The NFL was doing better than great before Jerry. Have you noticed that with each new TV deal (that Jerry brokered) the NFL gets the more commercials they load into the games telecasts. There has become sooooo many looong commercial breaks in a Cowboys game it has made the game almost unwatchable.

There does seem to be more commercials these days. Every time a football gets punted or kicked, you can count on a commercial or six right after it.
Not sure which is the greater achievement for Jones: winning three Super Bowls in the early years or growing a sports franchise despite fielding shit teams for 20 years.

That is indeed one of the reasons Jerry is being considered, he taught the other owners how to make money off their brands. Remember the Pepsi, official soft drink of Texas Stadium promotion? No one ever had thought of that before.
As far as winning being a low priority, that's a load of shit. He traded for Joey Galloway at the end of Aikman's career to replace Michael Irvin. He was hurt in the first game.
If anything, he is loyal to his players to a fault. He also hired Bill Parcels when things were going downhill, and he found Tony Romo. We were one win from the NFC championship game in 2007 and 2014.
Long commercials pay the bills, get Tivo and get over it, or don't watch.

I have read and heard about how he showed other owners how to make more money off their brands like Jerry did with the Pepsi sponsership, naming rights and all that. Your right, I agree. But during all that time he was making himself, other owners and the NFL rich he was simutaneously running the franchise into the ground as far as the football team, wins & losses, playoff runs, etc. IE. 2 or 3 measeley playoff wins in 20 years. Pairing the words HOF and Jerry Jones together is an oxymoron like invisible ink, ground pilot and artificial grass.
I don't know about you but for me as a sports fan I don't get any pleasure out of reading about Jerry's financials. Your right about the Joey Galloway trade but that is a PERFECT example of what he has done over and over again the last 20 years to run this into the ground...Thank you!!
Jerry Jones wants the Cowboys to be all about splash, glitz, style resulting in no substance. Think of all the stupid trades and free agents he signed just because they were big names at the time or once were rather they could play or not anymore. Terrel Ownens (a known cancer but the signing put a national buzz and spotlight on Jerry), Wide receiver Roy Williams (a known NFL bust but big time UT receiver) Jerry gave a 1st, 3rd and 6th picks for him. Pacman Jones, Greg Hardy, Eddie George and the list can go on and on. And boy did he ever want to sign Johnny Manzel according to the local media.
I am a guy who is from DFW and big sports fan and I used to COULD NOT WAIT for Sunday or Monday night to watch the Cowboys. It was soooooo exciting. Last time I checked it is much more exciting when your team is really good. Because of Dak and Zeke and this air of something new maybe happening, I can't wait to see what happens in a week and a half. Hope they do good.

Hilarious. Truly. You answered your own question within your own post without even realizing it. Follow the money, bucko...follow the money.
Here's the straight-skinny on how this works: Roger listens to Jerry (Jones)....and Daniel (Snyder)...and
Paul (Allen)....and the other 29 owners because Mister Goodell works for them. He doesn't represent the interests of the fans or the players. All he gives a rip about is Growing the $hield and keeping his employers happy. And for that, they reward him hand$omely.
Now back to the dude who's been walking around with a 10-pounder since moving his clan from Arkansas to Big D: some owners (in the NFL) carry more clout than others...that's a given. And Jerry's had as much (if not more) clout as anyone in the league these past 30+ years. No need to run through the wheeling 'n dealing, the financial$ (ie: what he's accomplished for his own franchise let alone the other 31 NFL team owners)...his contributions speak for themselves. And, as noted before, they all know it.
Say what you will (ie: running the team "into the ground" etc, etc, blah blah blah....) Your argument(s), unfortunately, is nothing more than axe-grinding when you get down to it. He's made mistakes, sure (as GM of his own team); they're well-chronicled. But his contributions to the whole are so much more significant when you look at the Big Picture.
Lastly, get past your Cowboy fan (and Jerry loathing) bias for a second and consider this:
Had Jerry Jones rolled into New York City in 1989 (after purchasing the Jets or the Giants, had either been for sale) and produced THREE Super Bowl Championships within his first 5-6 seasons(as both owner and GM), the East Coast media would have crowned him King of the Universe and had him in the HOF before the turn of the century...regardless of what credit was due his head coach(es). And as a pretty popular guy around here years ago once said, "you can put that in three-inch headlines".

I kind of did answer my own question about why Goodell even listens to Jerry anymore. Your response made me think it is probably worse than I thought. For Goodell it's ALL about the money. It's all about money for Jerry to even though it shouldn't be. He does have a stadium to fill and jerseys to sell but as I said he, the master marketer businessman, knows how to play it. Even with an 8 and 8 winning percentage the last 20 years (bad product) he can still sell just enough false hope (a bill of goods) to fans that don't know better to where they will keep coming back.
Jerry Jones has been berry berry good for Goodell but you would think Goodell would still be pissed at Jerry. Goodell has been making roughly $40 million per year. With Dallas' popularity, when/if they went all the way to the super bowl the increased revenue generated I bet would literally put a couple of extra million into Rogers pocket that year. I think Goodell is paid a percentage of total league revenue.
New York is considered a baseball town. I have taken two long vacations to Manhattan. It might be different with the Giants or Jets but if Jerry Jones bought the Yankees 20 years ago and did this to the Yankees. Fans would have gotten sick and tired of this a long time ago and it might have gotten ugly. Those New Yorkers can be pretty tough.

There are probably 29 other teams that would love Jerry Jones to be their owner. When I found out he almost bought the Chargers instead of that piece of shit Spanos family I threw up a little.
I can think of only two teams that have a more stable ownership. Patriots and Seahawks. Maybe the Mara family is close. Pat Bolan was until he passed. The Rooneys arent what they used to be. The rest are not even close.
