Well, up until about 6 months ago my policy was that there was nothing I could post on the boards that was going to make a gentleman want to come see me if my ads, reviews and website didn't do that already. My often repeated joke was "Why post? They're not paying me for my opinion." Until I started to get a look at some of the new people that were rolling into the boards.
I watched with a large amount of shock and horror as inappropriate things were thrown out into open forum and chatted about with a casual tone that terrified me. The refrain that often went through my head was "Is so and so really that stupid? They're a train wreck waiting to happen." Gradually, it hit me that it wasn't that these people were stupid or crass but rather that they were uneducated about the hobby and the protocol that goes with playing in that sandbox.
I came to realize that when I started I had the benefit of a few wonderful old guard men and women who gave me the benefit of some advice that has never steered me wrong. Any blunders I have made in this business were when I stepped from the path and blatantly ignored their advice. If they had seen me and left me to flounder in the deep waters of the hobby I can look back and see myself making those exact same mistakes. Thus, I was forced on some level to step up and add my voice... something that I am sure a lot of people regret.
To make a long story short (too late), you're right Lemontrees and if you don't say anything... how will anyone ever know?
