There is nothing inherently shady about requiring a deposit, nor will you get scammed just because you as a client pay one. You certainly do have to worry about getting scammed if you’re not verifying the providers you see, though.
However, I would absolutely be hesitant of giving a deposit to someone with brand new ads, no social media presence, no reviews, etc. If you send money to someone like that, it is not the fault of every other escort that you got scammed because you didn’t do your research.

This is where it's at, rather than shaming ladies for wanting deposits, or guys for seeing them, we need to find a way to make it easier to do research. I have no problem doing deposits for legit ladies, the problem is it's soooo difficult to determine if a random girl wanting deposits is legit. So I usually skip the risk.
For example: #3 on the original list, very attractive, would love to see her, would book 2 hours in a heartbeat if I could trust her. However, I'm unable to find any reviews on any sites. Her ads even say the dates in them are fake dates(How are you supposed to plan your schedule?). Has twitter presence, but the twitter account joined March 2021. All signs point to no go here. Is it a scammer or a legit lady? I don't know, but the risk assessment is too high. She's probably the easiest on the list to disqualify.
Research is tough though, and there's no good guide on how to do it, because there's no good way to go about it...

Social media presence means nothing, a scammer can link to an actual lady's social media and pretend to be her. Also a girl can be on social media and still be a scammer.

A scammer will invest into a scam for a higher payout. This should give you no comfort, even if the ads are *paid* ads.

Absolutely, there are scammers with social media, OnlyFans, and multiple *paid* ads.

I won't point out the bad and skip the good, this is close. However, I'm going to take it a step further. How do they interact with other providers you've already seen and know? Do they have interactions with twitter accounts you recognize as clients of providers you've already seen. Basically, the Kevin Bacon game, how many degrees from you are they? Surprisingly, or maybe not, among reputable providers that frequent an area, the Kevin Bacon number is fairly low, you probably won't even need 6 degrees if she's legit.

This is spot on good advice, I'll add do they have a long enough history of consistently receiving reviews? The pandemic unfortunately provides a legit excuse for a gap. However, legit(especially traveling providers) should have no problem getting reviewed a couple times a month. Again, play the Kevin Bacon game, are any of the reviews from user names you recognize as having reviewed another provider you've actually seen? Do those user names have a history or are they new?
In general the more resources and effort a scammer would have to put in to remain consistent and pull off the scam, the less likely they are to do it. So research has to look for things that are hard to maintain. That puts a burden on the legit ladies because they have to do that maintenance.
Legit ladies that require deposits:
The next time you see a new guy for the first time, somewhere towards the end, ask the guy what his research process was before deciding to meet you. Unfortunately, I *think* you'll find that guys are dumb, and they just took a risk. However, I'd be interested to hear any stories where you got a good answer.
