BTW, the quote on capitalism/socialism attributed to AOC is WRONG.
Ellen, this is why it is important to verify such ridiculous memes, something you criticized me about. The purpose of the meme was to demean AOC. It was incorrect. Don't you think such mistakes should be pointed out???? Or should we blindly believe them?

Of course you don't see anything wrong with Trump's character. Very few in his base do and will stand by him at all times. The 2018 mid-term elections point out that many who voted for him in 2016 abandoned him in 2018. I believe much of that vote loss was due to people seeing the "true" Trump character come out. We will see whether or not he can win them back. If not, he will be the first one-term POTUS since daddy Bush.

Old-T,
I understand what you're saying. There were a lot of folks that voted for Trump in 2016 that are educated people who just wanted to give the middle finger to Washington D.C. and they abhored Hillary so they voted for Trump. I get it.
I disagree with him being a pathological liar. I've known some of those characters and Trump is not even close. Does he exaggerate? Yes. If you have ever worked in a corporate environment then you would know most executives do it. It's what they do. And all President's do it too.
To me, Washington needed some chaos and Trump delivered.
The problem as I see it - the Dems don't know how to deal with him. And the more that Democratic lawmakers call him a m*****f***** - the worse it's going to get.

Trump has proven to be a pathological liar (Mexico IS paying, the federal workers SUPPORT being out of work, the federal workers are on strike, all the past presidents support me, the military has received no raises for 10 years, etc., etc., etc.) than expected, and he is willing to throw anyone and everyone under the bus while telling them he is helping them.
I agree with Ellen, the middle is the issue in the election. Trump will win his one third of deaf/self-focused/brainwashed/bigots (you have to be one of the four to be blind Trump supporter, but not all four) and whoever the Dems nominate will get one third who are equally tromping to the polls with minimal thought. The other third will decide, but unfortunately many of them have walked away from both parties and thus minimal say in the nominations.
If the Dems don't self destruct by selecting a fringe wacko they should do very well in 2020. But I will never again underestimate the self destructive tendencies of either party.
Actually, I love that quote--it is so absolutely correct. It is also correct if you put in "Dems" and "Reps" instead--of course each side doesn't see their own follies and lies. She is new and energetic. She will be changed by life in DC for good or bad, but I think there is something there that could grow into something good. We shall see.

How about Politifact:

How about FactCheck:
https://www.factcheck.org/2018/12/qu...ocasio-cortez/
Do you have ANY substantive proof that she said what you claim she said via the meme? My bet is on "No". AOC does not have to defend herself against disparaging memes. Not her job. But it seems to be the job of people on the right to post these ridiculous memes.

I don't mind the use of memes if they are true or are opinions. But most memes are posted by those who post them simply because they support their POV and don't take the time to verify them.

What is a "meme" anyway? Is that like a "vine" or if you oppose something it's called "pushback" or if you make a mistake it's "my bad" or if you don't blame someone it's called "no worries" and the like?
Have we re-invented English for some reason I'm not aware of because it seemed to be working alright as it is with a pretty comprehensive vocabulary and I don't see the need to replace words like that.

Personal opinion.
Like I said on the national board. Trump's speech was a whole lot of nothing. The rebuttal by Pelosi/Schumer was a whole lot of nothing. No progress at all, nothing substantial presented to the American people. Trump using his usual fear tactics. Pelosi/Schumer simply disagreeing.
What I will tell you is that according to polls the shutdown is hurting Republicans far more than it is hurting Democrats. Something like 30-35% of the people think there should be a shutdown for the wall.

And meanwhile 800,000 workers will not get their paychecks tomorrow, including one of my family members. If you read the Austin American Statesman, please read the article on the shutdown and the impact on the many local federal employees who are furloughed. And President Trump says the workers support him on the government shutdown. What a laugh!

Laugh? Trump is a black comedy. The only thing more filled with pathos than Trump himself are the lemmings who put aside any actual thought to blindly trail after him in a bemused stupor.
He makes blatant lies, and they believe him--or don't care.
He contradicts what he said, claiming he never actually said what is on record (Mexico will pay for the wall--they will give me $5B or lose a lot more") and the lemmings babble "The press is out to get him! How dare the press bring up those contradictions! Evil, bad press!"
The man is a pathological liar, making shit up even when he doesn't have to.
"The former presidents all agree with me". That one held up to scrutiny, didn't it?
"All these federal employees not getting paid, they keep telling me they love me and support the shut down!" I spend most my working days surrounded by federal employees, and even those who are strongly RW say he is wrong on this and do not support him. More lies, more of his lemmings who stuff cotton in their ears.
Then we have Syria. The draft dodger serial liar screws up yet again, goes against damn near EVERY advisor he has, MAKES UP supposed facts to justify his decision, then contradicts himself a few days later. But his temper tantrum already cost him one of the best cabinet members he had (they were few enough). No remorse, and certainly no admission he made a mistake--egomaniacal "leaders" like Trump never admit they were wrong.
And through it all the lemmings only responses are either "If Trump says it, it must be true (and if he said the opposite the day before, that must be true also!), or, more likely, "I really don't care if he lies, I am too stupid to care about the harm he does in the name of his swollen ego".

Draft dodger serial liar? You mean W. Bush?
As for being a liar I'll say again the yarn by Barak Obama -
He said he had an uncle who liberated Auschwitz and later was so upset he went into his parents' attic after the war and didn't come down from there for seven years!
And that was not exceptional. Research it and you can see Obama was a pathological liar who fabricated and confabulated and never told the facts about anything.
But the press gave him a pass because he brought "hope and change you can believe in"
