I bet your mechanic or the stealership convinced ya of this.

These things aren't that hard or expensive. Basic code readers and even diagnostic software is pretty cheap and can run on a laptop or tablet. Chiltons and other DIY manuals are out there. What she's asking for doesn't sound too complicated. Full weekend at worst for an amateur.

I don't ever take my car to the dealership and I have a mechanic in Plano I've used for years who is honest and gives me reasonable discounted rates.

He finds something wrong or something is about to go wrong he tells me about it but doesn't do what other mechanics do:

you got to fix that now or you will be in trouble.

Like the time he told me there is a slight leak with the water pump but it should last a bit longer and yes there was a leak, every couple of weeks I had to put extra coolant in the reserve plastic reservoir.

Well 4 years after he told me about the water pump, it was still working when I sold that particular car and not once in that 4 years even in the hot summers, did the engine over heat, the temperature gauge shot up past the maximum temperature and the car left me stranded.

There are some cars (I never owned one of them but I've seen friends that have them) where to get to the battery you got to take all kind of crap around it and on top of it off to be able to just remove the battery.

I have done some repair already but still looking for the ones i listed

Trading services for repairs I think is a great deal!!
After the car is fixed: you choose either for 4 hr - 6 hr - 10 hr

I have over two decades of professional automotive and aircraft mechanic experience by trade. I'm here to tell you, please don't let just anyone here mess with your airbag sensor. The rest of it is pretty straight forward but please don't farm out airbag sensor work. Faulty/shady maintenance with that system can kill. Just a PSA.....

Or the airbag can deploy and hit you in your face and injure you if the electrical system is not completely drained down after the battery is disconnected.

If it needed gears ,that would mean they removed the differential cover. And inspected the gears then put new gear oil .

If you think the "mechanic" is going to buy your parts to, you are out of your mind. If the trade is for labor only then you got a shot.

Oh she thinks her twat is going to get the whole thing covered, and only after the work is done AND in one appointment.

Honestly an overnight before AND after the repairs still might not cover the true cost of parts and labor. And who’s to say the mechanic is guaranteed to even want an appointment?? The OP doesn’t show her face so what if the client changes his mind?

I agree with everyone else here. Sell the car, get something more reliable. And you would think after being a “high end provider” for so long it would’ve helped her get a better vehicle years ago.

Safer to make the offer to a reputable mechanic, just like they do in the porn fics.

I know of a mechanic that is not in Dallas, who does work for me if I get parts.

Usually he works something out with me. I do always have to pay for my parts, at his price thankfully, but I get a fair deal on labor.

I think expecting a mechanic to provide parts and labor in exchange for services provided is asking a lot for what it sounds you are needing done.

I was running around with cars that were known for needing a lot of work and really kept him busy with my cars. The car I have now is still a bit old but known for being way more reliable I hope. It still has issues from time to time, but keeping up with it regularly helps so much.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but maybe take a different angle at asking for help and you might actually get some. Good luck!

If you are looking to buy a car, I might know of someone willing to sell a reliable running car at about $2k.
