Desperate.
I'm sure you can run off the list of policies enacted by that Democratic Congress that, in 2 short years, led to the calamity in 2008. Which pretty much started in 2007 - less than 1 year after they took over.

Obama Gonna Pay for My Gas !
The house passed it and the Democrats opposed it. Cut-Cap-Balance is the only piece of legislation offered by Congress to solve our debt problem. It is supported by 67% of the public. But Obama and the Democrats can't stand the idea of "living within our means" Obama wants to be the big spender and throw our hard earned tax dollars around like a pimp in a tittie bar !

Even as cynical as I am, I don't think that W didn't think that he was doing what was in the best interest of the country. He was crazy wrong about what was in fact in it's best interest, but even I, who have a loathing of W and his asinine policies that is unsurpassed, wouldn't accuse him of the sort of shit like this.
The two parties are so far apart that they share almost no common values. That is not a symptom. It's a cause. I see the nation fracturing, mainly along lines of education and religious affiliation. Those with HS education or less or low college education (except African Americans) and those who are fundamentalist Christians, are almost all Republicans. Likewise, a significant majority of those with college educations (and a greater number of those with graduate degrees) and the irreligious are in greater percentage Democrats (although the percentages are not as stark as in the Republican cohort).
The differences between these two groups are pervasive. Just to take two easy examples that are in the headlines these days -- immigration and economic policy. The lower SES group see our society disintegrating because of pluralism. The Democratic cohort celebrates our diversity and think it strengthens us. Similarly, economics policy in the Republican groups is 19th century, just like their values. They long to return to robber baron capitalism. They deny any economic doctrine adopted after the turn of the century (except EMH economics, but only a select few are even aware of that). The Democratic group understands the strengths and limits of capitalism, acknowledge the contributions of Keynes, and seek to integrate the government into a market economy, not banish it.
In short, the differences are not of degree, but of kind, and fundamental and are irreconcilable. Other than the civil war, I'm not sure that there has been a time in our history when that sort of split has existed. And now, the split is not just about one issue, but all issues.

Very well said Tex. I think our President is honorable and I think it is deplorable for people to accuse him of being otherwise. It is right up there with the nuts who want to compare our President to Hitler. The fact is he can't win no matter what he does because the opposing party (republicans) want him to fail. They want our economy to be on the brink of disaster and even fall into disaster because they have invested interests in this happening.

I read this whole thread and have lots of questions and see lots of poorly thought out scenarios with lots of blame directed at certain people but besides all the petty and downright incorrect bullshit written here about what Obama "caused", I'd just like to know if there are any so-called conservatives who can think or read well enough to wonder why Fox Broadcasting actually won a court case that forgave their misleading and lying stories based on the defense that they were an "entertainment" source and never intended to be a "news" source so truth didn't matter.
Carry on. Those who don't know or weren't familiar with that case won't be smart enough to catch any of the other stuff.
I'm still trying to figure out how Obama goes to a Baptist Church for 20 years and gets all that flack over Jeremiah Wright yet BO is supposed to be a Muslim. I think the radical Islamists would have had a severe problem with Obama's attending a Baptist Church in Chicago for a year - let alone 15 or 20!
Do Republicans actually think? What do they do when they blame that 2-year period of a Democratic Congressional majority where the Dems did not and could not override a single Bush veto?
And some guy is counting golf outings as opposed to Bush's trips to relax, hunt and cut brush in Crawford. Wow, the lack of brainpower these people possess is dizzying.

It's sad that a grown man like you would think and talk this way- you see I could care less about Right/Left, Red/Blue, Dem/GOP, but what I do care about is Right and Wrong- and right now the GOP is doing the wrong things just to please their base and people like you Whirl are spewing your hate- because you don't want Obama to do well- hell if Obama Administration discovered a cure for cancer tomorrow you would probably blast him and ask why he didn't discover a cure for AIDS- people like you are about self Whirl.
Whirl did you know this interesting fact: the debt ceiling was risen seven times during the
Bush administration never heard a word. Now with an election coming the
Republicans want to play politics with the economy future of this
country.

Yeah, if it wasn't for that senile old coot, capitalism would have failed and communism would have triumphed. Good thing, too, since both economic systems are equally well adapted to modern economies and likely to be successful. Who knows what would have happened to capitalism if it and communism had an level playing field.
Reagan had about as much to do with the fall of communism as my old tom cat. Capitalism, at least if well regulated, is a vastly superior economic system than communism. It was merely a matter of time until communism failed. If you want to thank somebody, thank Harry Truman and George Keenan.

Funny, I thought that self assurance came from education and studying history.

What is sad is that Obama runs from leadership during a difficult time - his concept of the Presidency is to give perennial campgain speeches, and leave the heavy lifiting to the Republicans. When your Democratic party had control you wouldn't pass a budget to run the country, you wouldn't raise the debt ceiling (you are so eager to have now). You care only about right/left arguements and ignore the facts on the table. You quote the left play book daily. You don't care about right track - wrong track because you can't even admit that 71% of Americans think Obama has put us on the wrong track (see Rassumusen pollling data). You ignore the facts that are on the table. 67% of Americans favor the Cut Cap Balance legislation approved by Congress. But Reid and your ilk don't support living within our means. All you can yell is it is Bush's fault ! You care nothing for the facts ! You are a perennial denier.
Of course I don't want Obama to do well. He is an extremist. He is a community organizer whose sympathises are with the socialists left of the world. His view of America is a failed world view.
And to use your sophomoric arguement; if Obama was found with the loaded gun and DNA evidence to prove it, you would still claim it's Bush's fault !
And the debt ceiling was just raised - February 2010. $1.9 Trillion. And it could be raised again, if the Democrats would pass a balance budget agreement. But nope, like we know, Democrats don't want to live within our means. They just want to act like pimps in a tittie bar, throwing money around.
People like you are about self. You think redistribution works. You think redistribution is fair. You think you deserve the rewards of others hard work. You want more free shit from the government, paid by other than you !

Wow did you copy and paste what you just wrote from Rush? You are being to sound more and more like a right wing Tea party nut on every post. Oh just for the record- by definition wasn't Jesus a community organizer?
Whirlway what service have you done for mankind? Where did you get your education from? Also, look up the term socailist- you don't even know the definition- it's obvious from your incoherent rhetoric and post that you do nothing but listen to Rush and then get your Tea party ideas from God knows what sources and then post them on here and EVERY TIME someone exposed your lies and half- truths!
By the way- check out these last 2 polls- one from CNN and the other from quinnipac

Within your own CNN polling data is the fact that 66% of Americans want a balanced budget amendment to the constituion. Do you support a balanced budget ammendment Wellendowed?????? Obama doesn't ! A Balanced Budget Ammendment to the Constituion is part of the Tea Party platform!
If you think that Congress will be restrained in future spending without a constitutional requirement you are in denial ! Those of us who are concerned over the credit rating (and financial future of America); support a balanced budget requirement, others just talk a good game.
