It amazes me that people get hung up on where it came from. Personally ,as a scientist I think its a natural mutation, but even if engineered as a biological weapon (again, I haven't seen proof), how can the administration's response be justified? Sure, travel from China was shut down, but consider travel from China to Russia or anywhere else in the the world as an intermediate leg..it's worldwide, not regional. Sorry, but blaming the country of origin is not an answer or curative response. Coupled with taped acknowledged intel of the danger of the virus, I call bullshit. If engineered, we were caught with our pants down (not the only time current POTUS has been in a similar situation), if not engineered, we were caught with our pants down...either way, didn't respond correctly to protect our taxpayers citizens, only those that don't pay taxes.

Here's why people get hung up on it. If we knew China unleashed a biological weapon on us that wiped out hundreds of thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands more of our allies, we would have to respond. Would we go to war? Or maybe there would "just" be a new cold war? This could make the 2020/2021 COVID 19 epidemic or the 2020 elections look insignificant in comparison.

Why do you believe it's plausible the virus was engineered as a biological weapon? I think the chances of that are about "0." Admittedly I haven't tried to read and absorb what the Chinese defector published a few weeks ago, or the scientific community's response to that. But it just doesn't make common sense. Why would the Chinese put something out there that would potentially hurt them just as badly or worse than us?

Thanks for your response Tiny. I do not believe covid was engineered and purposely unleashed on us by China. So, no need for retaliation. I Do believe that the administrations response to the natural threat was irresponsible at best considering the revelations of the Woodward tapes. I don't deny that I'm a scientist and believe in sound science, therefore, in my opinion, it's proven that we've been lied to from the beginning. I suspect, but can't prove, that it is ongoing.

Unfortunately, but predictably, the kind of irrelevant non-responsive responses typical of this discussion board. Did any of you live through the polio epidemic? Do you believe polio came from Russia or wherever? Were Salk and Sabin great scientists? Did you for family resist vaccine? What's different? The government didn't politicize the threat, but treated it as what it was. Therefore, reality was accepted and responsible responses were by and large evoked. Contrast to current government downplay and where we are today.

That's one hell of a mutation for a family of Viruses that in the past have been responsible for generally mild illness.
