I must have a misprinted copy of the constitution. All mine says is freedom to practice, and the establishment clause.

...but we're all over the map here. So far the best answer to DD's question has been: Bush's fault.

So there you have it. A sitting president is going to run for re-election as an outsider, and see how long the media will go along with him on this ride. It obviously is working for his base. Any honest dicussion of this strategy is met with a barrage of Bush did this, Bush did that, blah, bleh, blah.

I for one don't think the media will just let it ride. Obama's history is littered with brushes with scandals (Rezco, Blago, sweetheart land deal, and now Sestak)...and sooner or later, some enterprising Jimmy Olsen is going to decide, screw it, I'm going for the next Bernstein. If O wants to keep the media on his side, he's gonna have to do better than his best Michael Moore imitation for the next two years.

As I always have said obama dosen't care about another term its all about getting every thing he can get done that he wants. Then from there he will be rich I mean rich which he wasn't his kids will have jobs for life. He dosen't care what people think. He is one of the smartest guys in Dc. Like him or not you can't say he's not smart.
And as far as the thread things don't happen over night it takes time.

Come on cheaper that's a cop out, he could have ended the patriot act but he extended it, he could easily recall NCLB, but he chooses not too, the answer to the question is its easy to sit on the sidelines and talk about programs and policies, but when you get elected you get information that you were not privy to, now you see why you do them. He was wrong when he complained about those things Bush was doing i.e. patriot act, gitmo, NCLB etc. He admits he was wrong by not terminating these policies.

DD you are partially right. It was your thread and you named the topic. However' you don't control it. The rules control it.

Catnipper stick to the topic or receive points for hijacking the thread.

I disagree with the argument that Obama is smart. True, he went to Harvard but my experience with engineers (who really have to know their stuff) is thus; we were building a casino boat in New Orleans when the engineer who designed it came aboard. He must be a smart guy but when he descended a flight of steps he stopped and looked at them. Almost everyone around him, including myself, said that they were upside down. He said that was impossible we shrugged our shoulders and went back to work. He got the prints, took some measurements, and decided that the steps had been installed upside down. He came up to me and a friend of mine and ask us how we knew. We told him that that they felt wrong and that was the explanation that fit. His firm came on board and offered a few people jobs to design boats; people without college degrees.
A college degree is only as good as the person who has it. Obama, like Hillary, has not practised law in a courtroom. Like they say, those who cannot, teach.

Obama was rich before his presidential run...he doesn't need the money.

Why was he rich? I still remember listening to the democrat convention in 2004. The press was literally slobbering over this 'new' and 'fresh' guy, who said 'there was no blue America and no Red America'.

After that, his little known book (strangely a biography written by a relatively unknown and young man) hit the top seller list. The rest is history.

Now, as to how smart the president is. I think a starting point in that evaluation would be his school records. Those have not been made public. Ok, what about his record as a state legislature in Illinois. Those records have been lost . Ok, lets read his thesis...not made public. So, there is little to evaluate him on.

I'll say he has to be fairly bright, to find a way to become enormously rich, and get elected....but lets not make him into Steven Hawkings until we see some of his academic credentials.

Default Friend

Dirty Dog made a comment back to me when I used the term " my friend".

I should have used the term "Pilgrim" like John Wayne used to do.

I agree that we are not and never will be friends of any sort. I spend most of my life trying to avoid people like him and just don't hang out with dirty movie vendors as a rule.

I don't like the Bamster, and he definitely is not smart. If Rahm Emanuel wasn't there, he'd need a map to find out where the West Wing is. He has absolutely no experience in anything other than being an agitator. The only thing he knows is that, in his mind, Bush caused everything - and his only response is we'll do this and then we won't.

Take for example BP - isn't it amazing that he promised to allow offshore drilling (not the kind Ted Kennedy was doing on his yacht off Hyannis Port) in order to secure support for cap-and-trade, then this rig convieniently explodes and collapses, then today he renigs on his pledge and prevents offshore drilling everywhere (even Alaska) and says that this oil rig "accident" is the reason that cap-and-trade should be passed. What a jackass.
