Exactly my thoughts Rambo Creed. Normally, I don't give a shit about doomsday prophecies written by medieval prophets and ancient religious text.

But this is different, this cosmological event has been predicted/calculated by astronomical science. The same science that has enabled humans to land on moon, send a probe to explore mars etc.

And I'm not saying the earth is going to end all of a sudden on that particular day. But it is very much possible that there may be catastrophical changes in the climate and environment result in large scale destruction.

NO. The science that allowed us to land on the moon, send a probe to Mars, etc. says that the "galactic" alignment in 2012 will have no measurable effect whatsoever on the Earth.

The forces involved are easily calculated. The force exerted on the earth by the galaxy are are billions of times less than the force exerted by the moon or the sun. Nothing of physical significance happens when the sun "aligns with the galactic center."

Yes, there could be some sort of astronomical catastrophe that will hit us unexpectedly at any time. An asteroid collision, black hole, gamma ray burst, etc. The idea that it will happen in 2012 is mysticism, not science.

Nothing will happen in 2012. And a these so called scientist and astronomers that support such 2012 myths are in the extreme minority and are considered idiots by the legitimate scientific community. Nowadays almost anyone can get a PhD in something. I would look into the credentials of some of these scientist you listen to.

I wasnt around 26k years ago, but guess what was? The rocks, the soil, the animals, the plantlife... all of which have left record of the events that took place on earth over the past MILLIONS of years. Science allows us to read those records and see natural climate cycles of the earth.

I wonder how many of those same wacky scientist predicted disaster in 2000?

They say that they even know the exact time.

It's supposed to happen at exactly 11:11 a.m.
