Unemployment Falls

I'd like to see some statistics about how many baby boomers are leaving the work force every month. Either voluntarily due to retirement, or involuntarily due to losing their job and giving up hope on finding another because of their age.

There will be a lot of new jobs open up when the baby boomers start retiring in droves, and if you factor in new jobs and the sorry state of our educational system, I can envision massive shortages of qualified workers in the next few years.

Many who have commented on this thread, regardless of political affiliation, have probably at one time or another worked in an office or factory where the person in the next cubicle or work station just couldn't get the job done, and the whole work group suffered.

The statistics are important, and as shown by these many posts can be interpreted several different ways, but the real question I have is how can this economy grow if qualified workers can't be found for critical positions?

That is so true!!! I have friends who own restaurants and they tell me they can't survive without hiring Mexicans. They never miss work, are always on time, will work long hours without expecting any overtime pay, and don't steal.

One of the biggest causes of restaurant failure is profits going out the back door. And the Mexicans don't do it, for fear of being caught and reported to immigration!!!

I see alot of illegals out with their families and I am always struck by something I personally zero in on. It amazes me how many of the men (actually I see it alot in all minority groups not just illegal aliens) appear to be such good fathers. My father was a Republican Marine Corps. officer and scientist. He had no desire to be a father and was more interested in chasing tail. I would have given anything to have had a dad who was interested in his child than the supposedly upstanding citizen who to me was nothing more than a chronic drunk and pathetic jerk. Some of these illegal aliens have more character and morals than the scumbags that are currently clogging up out government as so called members of congress.

You can bet your boots that the GOP clowns would have rather seen the unemployment rate shoot up regardless of the misery that would cause to all those people already hanging on by their finger nails if they could claim an advantage in the coming election.

. . . The sad fact is that the GOP candidates would much rather have something to bash President Obama with even if it meant that the unemployed people would suffer even more just trying to stay afloat!

Fast Gunn sadly that is the GOP's plan but it will backfire- I honestly think if Obama's policies were put in place specifically the jobs bill that UE rate could easily be in the upper 5 percent or low to mid 6% by en of the year. I mean Obama proposed a restructuring of our roads, highways, and bridges which anyone can tell you that America's infrastructure needs to be repaired. The GOP only prayer is jobs and the economy and they rather put the party in front of the people.
By the way has anyone hear of the GOP's plan for health care? What is the GOP's plan to fix the economy?

So right, the only thing GOP wants is the economy in shambles so they can beat Obama.
For that reason they don't deserve to win at all.
Fortunately my state is an Obama winner no doubt about that.

I see WE has been smoking something. Care to show us the cite (anything other than High Times). The CBO has said that they expect UE to rise before the end of the year to near 9%. Of course we still are waiting on that 8% that was promised by someone.

You say that the GOP wants UE to stay high, then why are there 30 bills sitting in the Senate waiting for a vote. 30 jobs bills that have already passed in Congress.
