See this is a pretty common mistake that American Patriots make. We argue with the Communists as if they have principles like we do. They don't. They lie when necessary, make it up if they have to, want to hold you accountable to your principles while never holding to those they espouse.
Constructive comments are the last thing that communists care about. So when you ask when is he going to stick to his standards the answer will be, never. Communists hold no standards, morals, or civic values. There only measuring stick is achieving power... by any means necessary, as they say.
Don't bother asking a communist to uphold the expectations they place on you. The only good communist is a dead one, and so until it's street legal to kill communists, the best thing to do is make fun of them. laugh at their lack of humor, their anger, their stupidity, and the fools that represent them. They hate to be mocked which is why anytime anyone laughs at them, they go for the RTM button.
