and the allegations in this article, if true, are criminal. i believe they are true because this is exactly the kind of vindictive thing Trump has done time and again: punish his opponents and reward his friends, even if the toll is human lives. since he is a sociopath imo, human lives mean little to him; he is unable to know or to feel sympathy for anyone besides himself. that's why he is the worst Consoler-in-Chief in the history of the Republic. his attempts at showing empathy would be comical if they were not so sad and disturbing.
i'm always interested in dissenting perspectives. we'll probably have to wait for other polls to come out to do "meta-poll" summary. obviously i believe a Fox News poll about as much as you'd believe a Huff Post poll, but you present conflicting data, so i guess the verdict is still out.
i'm wondering if some senior Republicans aren't kicking themselves that we don't have a President Pence right now. despite his anti-science views, he's conducting himself as everyone wishes Trump would conduct himself; for starters, he presents facts and listens to experts to inform his decision-making.

Looks like despite the constant media hounding of President Donald Trump over the virus response, people are disregarding the media’s negative attitude and are giving the president the highest approval rating of his presidency on Thursday.
The Fox News poll found 49 percent of registered voters approve of Trump, his highest point since becoming president. The approval rating is a slight increase from 48 percent in March and 47 percent in February.
The president’s disapproval rating dipped to 49 percent.
Eighty-nine percent of Republicans approve of Trump, 2 percentage points lower than his highest point, 91 percent, in January. He scored at or almost at his records among women, Democrats, whites and white evangelical Christians.
When specifically looking at the pandemic, 51 percent of voters backed Trump.
Astonishing that people just seem to be refusing delivery on the constant efforts by the media to attack Trump, that he’s even getting approval from Democrats and independents. Imagine if media were actually honest and truthfully reporting.
According to Fox, Republican pollster Daron Shaw said, “It could be consequential that he’s closing in on 50 percent, which is critical for his reelection chances.” The economy isn’t good right now, with everything having to be put on hold but about forty four percent believe it can come back within the next year and that’s critical to Trump winning as well. It’s hard to imagine Biden doing anything for the economy while Trump is already a known factor for delivering a great economy pre-pandemic.
Trump has gone all in with informing the American people as to what is going on, holding briefings everyday as to what is going on in the fight against the virus. That’s engendered a lot of confidence from people including some independents and even Democrats.
57 percent thought the fight against the virus was going in the right direction, while 30 percent thought it was going in the wrong direction. 56 percent approve of the federal response.
Democrats looking at this have to be troubled even with the economy presently tanked that Trump can still command such a high approval. It definitely is not spelling good news for Joe Biden.

since when is yahoo news left wing lol? or is all media left wing except Fox News and the alt-right news sites? if CNN gets lumped in as a left wing news site, it is because they believe in facts and objective truth. for Trump, truth is whatever he says it is, on any given day. i highly recommend a read (or re-read) of 1984. it helps to contextualize trump-ism. facts are nothing; only the current bullshit spewing from Trump's mouth at any given time and place can be called "facts." trump uses the term "fake news" anytime he gets called out on his bullshit.
of course he never said that covid19 was overrated, that we'd be over it in a couple weeks and it would have a negligible impact; in fact, Trump was the first person to sound the alarm. and of course he hasn't played a round of golf in over six months. and in press conferences about covid19, he never bragged about all the models he's shagged while the American people are suffering, cause that's all fake news invented by the liberal media, right?
the huff post (i'll stipulate that huff post is left of center btw) article is consistent with Trump's vindictive character; anyone who doesn't suck up to him gets on his shit list, and anyone who strokes his ego properly gets on his "these people sucked up to my royal sovereignty" list. he doesn't stop there though. whenever he gets a chance to punish the former with a big f u, he does, and he rewards the latter, whenever possible.
you're not disputing that, are you? it's not a 1 off for him, it's his standard operating procedure. he's the most vindictive (and divisive) president in the history of the Republic, the Divider in Chief.

lets face the facts. we have a part-time president who is more interested in stuffing his own pockets than in working for the American people. he is first and foremost a real estate developer and a carnival barker; this presidency gig is his side hustle, like an uber driver on steroids. he is only interested in America to the extent of ensuring his re-election. outside of that, he could give exactly 2 fucks. ukraine stands as a case in point. he pursued Donald Trump's interest to the detriment of America's interest.
