I think I touched on that subject somewhere on this thread. I'll state it again. To prevent gun violence you'll have to abolish the second amendment and destroy all firearms of all types currently in circulation. Seize the manufacture of all firearms and declare it a criminal offense for anyone to posse a firearm.

The car analogy is stupid to begin with. I've been saying FOR YEARS -- you want to do something that will have more of an impact on saving your life than owning a gun then stop driving a car. Or stop smoking. Or stop drinking. Or exercise. Easy to carry a gun. Hard to do the others.

Second, most SANE people keep their guns and other firearms under lock and key when not used. That is also the advice given to gun owners by safety experts. Have a problem with that? IMHO minors (children under 18) should not have open access to firearms at any time. I don't consider that Liberal or Conservative, simply a caring parent.

Your last paragraph, like many of your random statements, is totally irrelevant to my suggestion.

At least I made a suggestion to try to reduce murders such as at Columbine and Sandy Hook (yes the shooter was 20 but he took his mother's firearms) . How about you suggesting something other than more guns on the street.

I'm fairly certain that we all know that is not going to happen. So the question remains, what realistic steps can be taken to cut down the number of homicides, gun-related injuries, and crime in general in the U.S.?
