i'm not going into detail right now on another piece of evidence that Trump is a clown, but here's the gist:
The Captain of the carrier U.S.S. Roosevelt (Crozier) send an all hands on deck email to basically anyone he thought could help stating his great concern for the safety of his crew after Covid19 broke out on board, stating his men did not need to needlesdly die. the email got leaked to the press. Trump thought it made him look bad, so he pressured Crozier's boss Modly (Sec. of Navy) to fire Crozier, which he did, citing Crozier's failure to follow the chain of command. (Modly should have said hell naw, you can fire me instead. screw the chain of command when you're guys are dying for no good reason.) the sendoff of the Captain by his crew was a sight to behold and made me proud to be an American and mortified that we have such a clown at the top. (Crozier has Covid19 and is in quarantine.)

sorry for the self-quote, but breaking news is Modly is stepping down after disparaging Captain Crozier to the crew of the U.S.S. Roosevelt and getting rightfully booed. Modly earned his firing; he should have just resigned for being a disgrace to America, like his boss' boss' boss.

Protecting the crew is 5th in line only ahead of self.

Plain and simple. You can't have the Captain of one of the most destructive pieces of military hardware on the high seas being insubordinate and going around the chain of command. You can't broadcast to the world that that one of our most important military units, patrolling one of the most volatile parts of the world, is operating at decreased effectiveness. That fails to preserve the Constitution, the mission, the service and the unit. Each one of those failings endangers the crew.

Had Crozier not been relieved of his command the question in everyone's mind, including the crew that appeared to love him, would always be whether or not the guy is coming unhinged.

Modly criticizing him publicly to the crew is even worse. Resigning was the right thing to do.

Sounds like Crozier will retain his rank and be reassigned. He will probably receive a new command when the time is right.

i'm always interested in contrary opinions that are based in reality. George F. Will is an example of a principled conservative whose ideas i enjoy countenancing, even if i am not always in agreement with.
