LexusLover has been confused every since!
The odds makers set the lines, it is then a matter of the inflow of money bet on each team. Please help LexusLover with this simple math equation. He is struggling.

why don't you help people instead of asking me
besides I don't know what your argument is about, although I do know you are adept at chameleon changes
as far as the line is concerned, its not about trying to determine how many points a team will beat another team by or the odds of winning a series of games or what the true odds are of a team winning a championship
odds makers aren't trying to determine how much better one team is than another and to express that difference in points or in some money line or odds
no, the odds makers are attempting to merely even out the money bet on either side of the wager
they are attempting to change a non pari-mutuel betting arrangement into mirroring as close as possible a pari-mutuel arrangement
when the jets beat the baltimore colts in super bowl III, I think it was, the line was 18 points, the colts being favored, well favored is the wrong word, its more like "bettors awarded points if betting on the jets", although its easier to say favored
I think the story goes some ill-informed reporter asked the odds maker if he was embarrassed for establishing the colts as such huge favorites when they lost and the reply was, "what? no, its one of my best lines ever, since it evened out the money"
