What a wonderful and inspiring movie! Due to this thread I saw the movie the other night and would put it in a class with some of my favorite inspirational movies. The scene where they were operating on the baby had me on the edge of my seat. I loved it where the doctor took the bull by the horns and paged Vivien, that he needed him in surgery. When the baby turned pink, it was all I could do to keep from crying.................all hell.............I cried................ It was also inspirational to my wife as at one time she was a pediatric nurse, so she had closer ties to the movie than I did. Where the movie explained to me how difficult the surgery was, she already knew.

We need more movies like this, and I'm grateful for you posting about this movie.

brooke and I watched that movie together... it is indeed astonishing and emotional. Not only was Vivien Thomas a great man who invented astonishing surgical techniques with no formal training, but Mos Def was the perfect actor to play him... brilliant!

I love The Hands that God Made,Mos Def was amazing. I saw it a few years ago and really thought he deserved some recognition for the role. BTW The first pic from Sliver with her up against the pole,mmm one of the most erotic scenes so much I got to make that fantasy come true Voyeur,Exhibition films I love besides Sliver

This one of those movies you can't help to love but have mixed feelings about... sad and funny, happiness and sorrow at the end.
