--week #6: it was down 6% from last season
Their take (and these guys are very politics neutral):
--NFL attendance is down a statistically significant amount from last season
--Trump and kneeling have had no real effect one way or the other--the adjusted numbers have actually gone UP a little since that stuff started
--They believe the bigger mid-term (next 5 years) issue is the shorter attention span that is making NFL games less appealing to the teen age fan base (they have a measure based largely upon early game people watching vs end of game people watching)
--And long term (10 year), soccer. Not that soccer on TV is likely to be huge, but kids growing up playing soccer instead of football likely means less dedicated FB viewers.

Thank you. Trump believes if he sneezes the whole world will catch a cold. His rants have less of an impact on people than his supporters would like you to believe.

Just got my latest TV Guide in the mail for October 30th - Nov 12th.
Here are the television ratings for the week of October 9-15:
#1 Sunday night football Giants vs. Denver
#2 Thursday night football Eagles vs. Panthers
#11 Monday night football Vikings vs. Bears.
Yup. President Trump's comments are certainly hurting the NFL TV ratings.

That's the thing. Owners want to be number one ALL the time- anything less is unacceptable. So they don't want to be number 2 or whatever - their goal is number 1 - every week - all week - - but they can't get there now. Same goes with attendance.

The kneeling during the anthem has brought out behavior that is similar to that of the Civil Rights Era. I've seen videos of people pouring water, juice and etc to kneeled along with physical on hands assault.
Coming from a martial arts background with a decade in a couple disciplines, no one should put their hands on anyone period other than self-defense. To attack someone under the guise of nationalism a la "patriotism" is to be no better than a regime like North Korea, China, the late figures of Saddam Hussein, Pol Pot etc.
I myself haven't taken a knee or protested on the anthem as a courtesy to those that have died in the military along with family in the military but certainly understand Kaepernick, the green beret that gave Colin the idea and the meaning behind it.
Side note, I didnt vote for Donald Chump or Hillary. I like Brother Bernie. I believe in the voting of 2 evils still represents evil. However had I known who the cabinet members of the administration were going to be, I may have voted in the general election with disgust.

Rather stupid statement. All TV shows want to be #1. NFL TV games were #1, #2, and #11 in prime time in the week cited. Their attendance numbers are fine.
If you or anyone else can point to numbers that show any weakness in the TV ratings or attendance I'd like to see them. Certainly not every game will be a sellout and not every game will have tremendous TV ratings. But there is virtually no difference in my opinion from before Trump made his comments and after he made his comments.
Some people are asking fans to boycott the NFL on nov. 12th. We'll see how that goes. You can count me out.

Yes,all t.v. shows want to be number one -- that is the GOAL. And owners and advertisers DO NOT want controversy to get in the way of that. Even if they do not meet the number 1 spot. - they will see controversy as an impediment to their goal. They do not want controversy.
What they want is a positive N.O.I. - and if controversy effects that- even for a tiny amount - well, you heard what Jerry Jones said.

I agree that NFL teams do not want controversy, which is one reason Kaepernick has not been signed.
But the controversy has NOT affected the NFL in any big way. Fans are still going to the games just as they were before Trump's comments and they are watching games on TV just as they were before Trump's comments. If NFL owners see a major impact on their revenue stream and associate it with the NFL players who are taking a knee, then they will take some action. Until then it will be BAU.
BTW, I will repeat that I find it ironic that the people who are protesting the protesters are primarily old, white people who have probably never experienced racism against them in their lives. And they are trying to tell young black men who may or may not have experienced racism throughout their lives as to how they should act.

It's crazy that people jumped on the Jerry Jones band wagon for his stance, but Jerry paid off a stripper that he raped. So you stand with a rapist(JJ), an admitted sexual predator(45)? Also, 45's name was brought to a suit by a then 13 year old girl, who then started receiving death threats, now did he do it? Who knows, but having your name even brought up with sex with a minor and being buddies with a known pedo is enough for me not to get on his bandwagon!

Speedracer, I am with you on just about everything you said, and I may have misunderstood, but the players are really not protesting for themselves.

Yes -those old, white people have money - and money talks. Can you tell me the accomplishments that these football players have done to make people of color's life better by taking a knee? What changes have been made?

You say that as if your mainstream media outlets haven't been lying to you for well over a year.
Oh, yeah. I forgot. You like your news stories straight out of Russia. Bought and paid for by the Clinton campaign and the DNC.
