I've stayed at the Amistad on a couple of trips. My 2nd favorite place after hanging out at Bills (Sportsmans). The food there was always better. Sportmans is typcal Tico dishes or bar food. Amistad had a great selection and I never had a bad meal. Love the bar to hang out in and have a conversation with the guys while getting a break from the Chicas.
If you stay at La Amistad, get one of the king rooms and don't let people disuade you with warnings of the train or traffic. I never had a problem with noise.. just the small quarters in the Queen rooms.
Oh, and Tbone2 is right with the 3 changes of clothes and the fishing trip suggestion. I used that excuse on trips 2-5. The now x-SO never knew I was fishing for pink snapper.
