I think it depends on your goal.
I am trying to add muscle, so I take Dymatize Elite
Mass. 55 g of protein, all your amino acids, BCCA, creatine, glutamine,
Lipids, complex carbs.etc

My $.02. I'm not a nutritionist or personal trainer but I have been working out several years and have completed triathlons and half marathons.

Your diet is the biggest thing regardless of your goal. Keep that in check and that will help you more than anything. It's obviously where most of us fuck up!

If it's just cardio, and not strength training, then you shouldn't really need more than a clean diet and plenty of water and good sleep. Just mind your macros on the diet. Someone said fish oil pills. Those are good even if you don't exercise.

Chocolate milk (yeah no shit) is actually a really good cardio recovery drink. It has a good balance of proteins, electrolytes, calories. One thing you might want to consider for long (1 hour plus) moderate to intense cardio workouts are salt pills. I use Biolytes. They help retain electrolytes and can really help if you experience muscle cramping. But that's something I found I only need for like 8+ mile runs and 70+ mile bike rallies.

I'm sure if you go into any sports shop then you'll be told about a 100 different things you need.

For strength training I like DS Craze and Bullnox Androrush for preworkouts. I'll supplement my diet with a protein shake as needed.
