I had yet another birthday about a week ago.


I "celebrated" by going to work(in this shitty economy, having a decent paying job is indeed something to celebrate) and gave myself a gift by upgrading my portable computer collection with the equivalent of a one thousand dollar computer for $150. The performance boost and updated operating system for the personally owned equipment is really nice, and I like the bargain-basement pricing.

Speaking of bargains - noticed 4 SWs on South Congress in broad daylight yesterday afternoon. Over the years, I've tended to gauge the general local economy pretty accurately by the percentage of Pavement Princesses™ wandering on SoCo relative to the overall providers available in Austin.

Translation - economic times locally appear to be worsening; plan accordingly.
