Having lived in Asia & San Francisco, I feel quite confident in saying that there's no such thing as good Chinese food in San Antonio. Sorry.
However, there is Asia Kitchen: more Thai than anything else but its got some fairly good food. I believe its the highest Zagat rated asian restaurant in town.

Mencius in med center is my favorite Chinese place by far. Any ladies ever up to go lmk. My treat. Heard PF Changs is good. Never been. Wouldn't mind trying that if Mencius wasn't so close to my work.

I do like the Asian Kitchen.
Granted I only get the salad when I go.
But got a curry that curled my toes from the good taste and spice.

pei wei has some fresh awesome food. if you seat at the bar, you can watch them cook for you, its quite relaxing seeing someone cook for you....the mandarin kung pao, with chicken , shrimp, and beef is the bomb bomb. I like it with the brown rice, super generous portion served. I think its better than pf changes. imho.

FYI Pei Wei is associated with PFChangs, their fast food version, less expensive, relaxed atmosphere, but different menu.Portions are generous, however it is a chain, just like Panda Inn......JS

I like Tongs also.
Back in the day, the Golden Phoenix on Perrin Beitel road was the place.
Shied away from it when they went to buffet style.
