Fiberglass is very light yet durable and the new vette is a bit lighter than the previous car, less weight more speed.

With something that has THAT much speed, when you crash, whats left? the engine.
Dated a guy in '85 who just bought a brand new one. We slid in the rain, "tapped" the back end of a normal car and he lost the entire front end of the car up the windshield.
For that much $ I want more steel around me, not the engine.
Besides they ride like shit!
Whats the old saying...."He who drives a corvette has small dick". The "ex"...yep!

New Vettes are engineered for the body parts to break away in the event of a collission. This is much like Indy race cars, the energy is dispersed and the passengers are saved. The new Vettes also have a built in feature in the event of a head on collission the engine drops out, and again the passengers are speared the engine coming into the passenger compartment.
So I have a small dick, its better than being a dick.
The new Vettes ride pretty good, its not a Mercedes or Cadillac, but the ride is stiff but not bone jarring. And the Vette has "run flat" tires all around because the Vette does not have a spare time. You can run on a flat tire up to 50 miles, try that is your Big Dick Steel Car?

Vette is a sports car. Supposed to have a tight suspension. I have never driven or ridden in one, but I would expect them to be much tighter than any Camaro, Mustang, Trans Am, Fierro or Miata I have ridden in.
(I know, Pontiac Trans Am & Fierro, I date myself.)
Engineering wise, when you are just a few inches off the ground, you have to have a tight suspension. And I would wonder if run-flat tires were to protect the undercarriage as much as to allow for no spare.
FYI, latest Camaro models as I understand it come standard with no spare and yet do not have run-flat tires.
I was in one of those popular fancy Japanese engineered cars a few years ago. Got a light tap from the rear by a older Suburban. Destroyed all sheet metal up to the back window. New cars & trucks have sheet metal & bumper design that will not buy you substantial protection over fiberglass in a collision. Not a body/collision repair guy, not sure which one is cheaper to repair.
Pics look ok, need to see one in person. Car is probably TGTBT, wonder if the dealer does a bait & switch on you.
Spoke to an owner of a BMW back in the 90s. He had been a Vette owner. Biggest thing he missed on the Vette as a BMW owner was being able to go to any parts store to get parts: plugs, filters, etc. Bet these days the newer Vettes have the same problem since they don't share as many parts from their lower performance cousins.
One of the ways GM was able to get the price of the H2 Hummer down to a reasonable number was sharing parts with the full size SUVs of their time. Has GM continued to use that logic on the Vette?

Every part on the Vette is unique. Parts are available, so far all I have needed was brake shoes. The run flat tires are great, even the Cadillac CTS does not have a spare, at least the CTS Coupe does not have a spare. The Cadillac does have a special pump in case of a flat to get you where you need to go to have a tire replaced.
The New Vette is a big change, look at the rear tail lights, no more oval or round tail lights. The interior is the biggest upgrade and looks pretty nice. I will be checking out the new Vette once the dealerships have them.

I remember when the C6's came out. Most everyone HATED the new style "What?! No retractable headlights in a Vette"?
I stuck by my '04 Mil-yellow Z06 like it was my offspring.
Fact is these vehicles just keep improving with each new model. Even Ferrari/Lambo enthusiasts acknowledge a car that costs a fraction of what they paid but puts out better performance.
And I'd give a testicle for a C6 ZR1.
Might be good time to get a bargain on a new C6. Dealers are incentivized to sell more so they get allotted more of the new models that they can mark-up sky high for "market demand".

My brother bought the ZR-1 and its a BEAST! I think it's got 640 HP.

I had a 2004 Vette, the last year for the hide away head lights. I bought the 2008 because of the increase in standard HP and a few other changes.
Jay Leno is a well known car guy with quite a collection. Jay recomends the Vette because of the performance for the price is one of the best deals on the market. I agree with Mr Leno, for the money the Vette is a world class car.
I am all about american muscle cars, call me old fashioned I buy American. Mustangs, Camaro's and the old Pontiacs are hard to beat. But to each their own.

Ohhhhh, baby! You guys are makin' my kitty pur I have never driven any other sports car, not sure I would fit real well in anything other than a Vette anyway. The feel of the speed just is just amazing!

I think it will grow on you. Probably trade my 11 Gran Sport in on a new one when my dealer is able to get a few in to look at more closely. They do keep improving them.

Last time I was in Las Vegas, I rented one of the Yellow Hertz Edition Vettes at a fantastic rate. Had a lot of fun in it! My atf favorite Corvettes are the 66 and 67's !
