The most successful newpaper in America (based on circulation) is The Wallstreet Journal. They're owned by News Corporation, the owner of Fox News. WSJ has the most conservative editorial page of any major newspaper. Rupert Murdoch rules!

StupidOLdFart, I understand where you're coming from. I really do! This is just another extension of your polical strategy. You prefer to stand on the sidelines and hate every political reporting source, just as you hate every candidate.
That makes sense, you feel if you can bitch and moan about everything you can keep your undisputed title of being the Bitcher and Moaner and/or Hater-in-Chief! Even Marshy will take a position on all the issues! His reasoning may be twisted logic but he at least has the balls to tell the world where he stands.
You, on the other hand, prefer to bitch and moan about every person, place or thing! It's easier that way!

If CNN reprogramed and went to the right of Fox, called itself the Tea Nut Network...you guys would start calling Fox news a Commie station!

CNN has been unsuccessful in selling viewers on the concept that it's brand represents the middle-of-the-road choice with respect to news.....CNN isn't moderate, CNN isn't objective, CNN isn't middle America.
In many ways I respect MSNBC for their honesty in tellling us upfront that they are a left wing reporting/opinion channel....
Why CNN took a 25-year brand like "The Larry King Show" and ruined it with an immigrant who is an obnoxious know-it-all and not from the USA is beyond me. I knew King was a liberal; but he was a good interviewer who let his guests talk. Morgan (and the CNN suits) ruined one of the great programming items on that channel.
CNN's only chance of survival is to go all international in their perspective; or swing to the center and center right if they want to regain viewership...
But it might be too late.............
Bye, bye.

CNN could turn their ratings around over night by delivering unbiased news coverage, who, what, where, when and why. In addition they should have half liberal commentary and half conservative commentary. On round table discussions, the participants should be half conservative and half liberal. That's it. That's the formula. I think its called fair and balanced.
The great part about changing their mission statement to fair and balanced is that, not only is it the best thing for ratings, it's also the ethical thing to do. CNN's current news coverage is unethical because it's dishonest.

The funny thing is there are no ethics in journalism...why? because there is no enforcement mechanism.
Unlike other professions (accounting, medicine, real estate), there are organizations, licensing, and certifications that can be used to hold members ethically accountable. No such organization exists in journalism.
It has no ethical accountability. In fact a strong arguement can be made just the opposite. Look at Joe Klein, ghost writer of Primary Colors. He went out on national live TV and denied he was the author, knowing he was. A bold face lie right into the camera and world wide audience. And it was the worse kind of lie; not a lie to protect a source, but a lie to hype the buzz over his book and enrich himself. What happened to Joe Klein ? He got promotions, more print space, more talk show bookings, more money, more exposure, more street creds. His community said nothing, did nothing, in fact his professional brethren patted him on the back! The industry couldn't say enough with this liar and hold him in professinal contempt.
What did CNN do ? They made Joe Klein a regular guest !

Journalism has been corrupted by leftist politics. The true believer left wingers, which most journalists are, put their political beliefs above everything. They won't hesitate to lie if it means advancing their leftist agenda.
If a left wing journalist wrestles with the ethical delimma of choosing between truth and propagandizing for socialism, it's no contest. Socialist propagandizing wins everytime. The decision to propagandize for socialism, not only wins in the question of ethics, but also in the question of money. It's a real measure of the passion, the left has for their "cause', that they will sacrifice financially, as I believe CNN is doing.
David Horowitz said that "a lie believed with passion is a force too powerful for truth to defeat" In the end, the left may win if conservatives can not match the left's passion for their socialist beliefs. The Jihadists say they will win because they love death more than we love life. Whether America survives or not, may depend on whether conservatives love the truth more than liberals love lies.

Unfortunately, journalism has been in the tank for the left for decades, at least since the thirties. The New York Times spiked one of the biggest stories in history, and they had an exclusive on it. The Time's foreign correspondent, in the Soviet Union, in the thirties, discovered that Stalin was engaging in genocide by systematically starving several million Ukraines. The Times spiked the story because they were sympathetic to the communist revolution in the USSR and didn't want to make them look bad. The Time's correspondent won the Pulitzer prize for his coverage of the Soviet Union the next year.
