Happy Mothers Day to All You Moms!
Our Moms have taught us a lot!
Here's my Top Ten list:
1. Mom taught me about my roots...
"Shut the freaking door! You think you were born in a barn?"
2. Mom also taught me about justice...
"One day you'll have kids, and they'll turn out just like you. Then you'll know what it's like."
3. Mom taught me about the wisdom that comes with age...
"When you get this old, you will understand."
4. Mom also taught me about the power of heredity and genes...
"You're just like your damned father."
5. Mom taught me medical science...
"If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to get stuck that way."
(to which I always replied, "Then, its OK for me to practice, right?")
6. Mom taught me about logic...
"If you fall off that fence and break your neck, you won't be going to the store with me."
7. Mom taught me to think about complex challenges...
"What in the world were you thinking? Answer me when I talk to you and don't talk back!"
8. Mom taught me it is more blessed to give than receive...
"You are really going to get it when I get you home!"
9. Mom taught me about anticipation...
"Just wait until your Dad comes home."
10. Mom taught me that other cultures have different food tastes...
"You'd better finish your collard greens and asparagus! There are thousands of starving children in China who would love to have what's left on your plate."
