My wife knows that she is now reasonably well off from a financial perspective. She does not need to "work" for the money. The transition in life styles has been tough. She did not really trust any man and thought that a husband was the same as a sugar daddy.
Despite snide comments from some posters, we are doing things to work out our situation. They were not things that I would have envisioned or would have found acceptable even a short time ago. However, things are getting better.

The person you should ask is Monica Fox. I hear she occasionally monitors ECCIE and might even comment. Just don't take a dump at her incall location!!

To quote Ragnar, again ... "Providers never retire, they just become more picky."
Nick, if your wife needs validation from her customers she will never flow into the mainstream.

The original question revolved around it being hard for a provider to retire. Nick you say snide comments, but the comments were spot on as far the original question. You gave your example and WU pointed out that she didn't retire. Others did the same, the simple answer to the OP's question is YES it is hard for providers to retire, you just stated reasons why.
The longer providing is a part of their life, the harder it is for them to retire, same goes for hobbyist too.
Next time just don't insult Chico DeBarge.

This shit is fucking with his head already so it's pretty bad.
Bad enough that he brings it on the board where his "utr hooker wife" can and probably will read it.
Putting it out there to the same guys that were/are, in all probability, fucking his "utr hooker wife."
Then getting butt hurt when some fucktard makes a snide comment.
Well here's a not so snide comment...Once a hooker always a hooker.
I'm still taking the under.

Every week i think - this is the last time i will hobby. hasn't happened for 20 years.
for providers they get so used to the money so it's even more difficult
There is nothing mainstream about a providers life of providing so the longer they stay the more difficult it becomes for them to transition to mainstream.

I was looking for some real experiences when I initially asked the question. I have heard a lot of problems through conversations with ladies over the years. I also know that there is a wide range of lifestyles, education and sophistication among the ladies.
My only indirect knowledge of a situation that worked out involved a lady with whom I was a more or less regular several years ago. This lady was like the lady who I am interested in in that she was in her 40s and advertised on Internet sites. She was reasonably pretty, nervous and did not trust people. She also managed money badly. One day she called me to say that she was getting out of the business and turning off the phone that she used. She recommended another lady to me. That lady turned out to be one of her few friends in the business. She told me that the lady had met a guy who offered to support her after knowing her for only two months. She was reluctant but had recently had some bad experiences and decided to give it a try. She worked out a dollar amount that was more than she was typically making. However, she had to agree not to see any former regulars and stay out of the business completely. She was scared but gave it a try. Several years have gone by and she is living well. The guy treats her well. She has found that he never holds the money above her and never threatens her after fights or disagreements. She is now very happy and relaxed.
I hope that that lady is not completely unique.
