I'm curious, is there some sort of function or festival or something along those lines that is going on in Midland/Odessa the 3rd and 4th week of April? Or is this a fancy area? The hotels rates in these two places seem to be at a premium their prices are pretty high. I even saw a Super 8 (which I would never stay at) for $160 a night!! What gives? lol

I was just in that area for work. Its hard to get a room now because there are so many guys out there working on the oil rigs. I think that may be why rooms are so scarce and pricy.

The hotels in Midland or Odessa are always pricey and sometimes scarce...when I have toured there, I have booked at least a month in advance and still had a high room rate. On one of the trips, they over booked my hotel and sent me to a sister property of theirs....

Oh, and the Midland / Odessa area is absolutely packed right now. Oil and wind farms. Thankfully, it brings tons of fantastic gentelmen, but finding an apartment or hotel room right now is gonna be expensive. Well worth the trip though, I go as often as I can, but not as often as I would like.
