Ever hear of the Colbert that cried "wolf"? That is the risk that people like Colbert and Al Sharpton take. They cry so often that if they have a real problem no one knows if they're serious. Think Andy Kaufman and his cancer. Some of his friends still think he will show up laughing.

You're acting as if Colbert has done this multiple times, which he hasn't.

This is his shop and trade. He makes up stuff and tries to pass it off as real. Someone once said (Randall Garrett) that satire is making something just short of unbelievable and then going up one more notch.

No he doesn't. Anyone who's watched Colbert can clearly tell when he's joking so suddenly disappearing is unlike him unless it was for a serious reason.

Then again I have my doubts you have even seen the show.

Yeah if that guy watched the show he would know the only way Colbert spins things is with humor. But most of the things he is commenting about is accurate and no more skewed than any "professional" newscasters on other channels.

Read what Randall Garrett said about satire lummocks. This thread started earlier than three days ago.

Running a show based on satire means you cry wolf when you take time off? What?

Who really gives a rat's ass about Colbert? I mean, I'm sorry his mom is sick, but to make such a big deal out of missing his crappy show is ridiculous. He's a moron, and he likes to show it off on TV. So he's gone for a few days. Who gives a shit?
