Bizz Radio 1110 am. I can listen to that all day long. And yes I do understand it.

I also like the 1180 Asia/India channel, just something different.

90.1FM love the afternoon retro, literiture skits, the computer guys, some India mix, and the weekend blue grass stuff.

94.5 FM for some good rock.

96.5 FM for some hip hop. ..................Oh by the way, Ricki Martin is Gay.

My preference is 103.7 but I'm not sure they qualify as local. Transmitter must be in Galveston... pointed at Galveston.... something...

It's damn tough to pick up near/north of I-10.

I've pretty much punted (pun intended!) on local radio for anything more than weather & traffic. It just can't compete with XM/Sirius.

104 is quite entertaining in the morning, 97.9 is funny! And 96.5 plays straight musiccc and not so many commercials!

Notable exception, Nuri Nuri, the Big Bossman of the Blues, Arab dude, he loves America!! His show is 11 am - 2 pm Sundays when the stinkin' Uppity Blues Women don't engulf it. But generally KPFT is a caricature of its former self, sort of like "We Are Spinal Tap" of the airwaves.
I'm sure you are right, brother. KPFT definitely has their moments for me though. Several years ago I had become hooked and used to listen all day, even the lgbt organic vegan natural birth hindu black power femi-nazi hour stuff. Now I can hardly stand most of the crap but in comparison to the rest of the FM band they still get top billing.

I mostly limit myself to just the weekend programming such as "Blues Brunch" with Nuri Nuri. Considering they don't have commercial advertising, I can understand the pledge drives. I pledge once or twice a year. Fact is they have programming without corporate commercials that you just can't find elsewhere on a local free radio broadcast and that is what I like.

Lately I've found myself listening to AM radio like 740 KTRH.

KUHF - "Wait, wait don't tell me?" and "Cartalk" and "Prarie Home Companion" are all great, IMHO- I admit, I'm a boring old guy. And, when I walk in the mornings, it's not so bad to go up a notch to Pacifica to hear the radicals talk.

I bought Sirius before he came but my radio is on Howard. If I am in the truck, Howard is on.

Ain't that the truth.

In a nutshell, Houston FM radio... SUCKS!!!!

I don't have any favorite stations anymore due the fact that they play the same songs over and over and over and over and ......

Nowadays, I either listen to 740AM or my iPod.
