I think sex is probably my vice. I don't gamble, don't smoke, don't drink, don't do drugs. I've been sexually active since I was 8. Granted, I had no idea at the time what an erection was or what sex was. All I know was even at that age, I was sexually aroused and it felt good. Once I found out what sex was in my teen years, I lived a sexually vicarious life while jerking off to Playboy, SI Swimsuit issue, or any other pictures of women in scantily clad poses (think the Sears lingerie section of their catalog). This progressed to lap dances at strip clubs and culminated in losing my virginity to a provider at the very late age of 28.

Hobbying is Sexy. Sexual addiction, although Hobbying can mask it, is a serious matter (as with any other addiction). Anyone of us can have sex as often as we'd like to with the various and sometimes dangerous options that are out there. A person addicted to sex (clinical sex addict) is headed down a dangerous and lonely road. I don't make fun of that scenario at all. BUT, there is a difference between clinically sexually addicted and Horny as Fuck all the time. I have to turn off sexual thoughts in meetings, at work, driving, listening to music, Hell, while sleeping sometimes (gotta be cautious, never know who might just hear ya' in your sleep). I have what I consider a very healthy sex drive. But, I will NOT Fuck just to Fuck, period. I have standards, and I want what I want. If she's not it, it's not happening. I can and will hold off until I find just what I want!

Okay, in all seriousness (because it is a serious issue for a lot of people), I love sex and would never want to live without it, but thankfully I'm not compulsive about it.

I think some of us here may be afraid to be honest with ourselves. Valerie is probably ok, but I'm talkin about mostly my fellow hobbyists. I think they all believe if your life doesn't fall apart its not an addiction or problem. Sex or hobbying is more of a cigarette type addiction for most here. I smoke but I'm not going to rob a bank to support my cigarette habit. And I won't rob a bank to get laid. But we all know what meth addicts are capable of to get a fix. We can survive without sex but life would really suck without sex. I can live without cigarettes but the first few days without one sucks. Me, I'm addicted to cigarettes and sex so fuck it call me an addict. Pussy is the best drug ever invented!!

Maybe I am an addict???...just an (HDH/UTR/Low-Volume Hobbyist) addict. Or, still yet an extremely Horny guy in denial. Decisions, decisions. Hmmmmmm...

I did rip the skin off my dick once jacking to porno when I was out of town on a business trip, in a notel, and didn't have my resident 24.5oz bottle of Vaseline Lotion. I used soap and water, kept it lathered. That shit didn't work. Gawd, that shit was painful especially when I was going at it again the next night. Whew, that took some time to heal. I never forget lotion now. It's always there as a back-up plan.

Okay, okay, you do make a good point. Not that I was in denial, maybe I was mis-categorizing the level of addiction. While I do have a level of discipline, if I were placed where there were no pussy, I WOULD go crazy !!! Good point.

It's not possible to be "addicted" to sex, any more than one can be "addicted" to food or oxygen. It's possible to be obsessed with it, but one can become obsessed with almost anything if one is unbalanced enough. "Sex addiction" is not a valid diagnosis; it does not appear in DSM-IV or the upcoming DSM-V, and it is only promoted by religious groups and charlatans looking to capitalize on people's fears. I have had this same issue run through my thoughts as I drive to/from work, and quite often. I will go on the proverbial record and say that I am a sex addict ... now, does it trump everything else in life? No. But my feeling is, true as it may be, the only thing keeping me from letting it take over my life is my family ... they mean far more to me than sex, but it ain't that far behind. If I was a single guy, with no other commitments but my job, I'd be going after and getting as much sex as I could, every day. Truth be told, I am as horny now (at 48-yo) as I was when I was 18, or 24 ... I love watching porn, and am very visual in that I like to see images, live or via media, of sex.

Do I have a problem? I am 100% certain that some psychologist will say I do, and to some degree I probably know that I do, but (as Carrie said) I can stop any time I want, but why would I (if it does not effect my private life)? I know there will be those that say it already impacts your private life, and yeah it probably does but I can turn it off when needed, just like the party days in college, or those things I got involved in after college (that we can't talk about) ... sex is a natural act between two (consenting) adults ... as the Tim McGraw song goes ...

I like it, I love it, I want some more of it ...

Sex addiction means that an individual will have sex with anyone and anything. Similar to a drug addict but only has sex. A sex addict will get sex by any means possible.

I was watching "A 1000 ways to die", and saw an episode about a sex addict. I won't say any more. You will just have to watch to know what I mean.

I was astonished to hear Chris Donaghue, the sex therapist who hosts the show Bad Sex claim that Tiger Woods was not actually a sex addict.

WTF?

I thought Tiger Woods could be the poster child for sex addiction!

Donaghue claims that Tiger was merely trying to use sex addiction as a sort of free "get out of jail card"!
