It was over at that point. First sign that Trump was trying to play kiss the ring and then he and JV melted down when Zelensky didn't. And Marco tried to melt into the couch with how badly they both embarrassed him.
The whole shtick about whether Zelensky had said thank you when we can roll the tape. Nice to know we elected two thin-skinned, talentless clowns. Almost like they realized their deal wasn't up to snuff and needed a way out.

Proof that when you reward Putin with an inch he takes several thousand square kilometers. Doesn't have to do that when Krasnov's carrying his bags.
Zelensky knows and understands that all to well. Made Trump look like a fool with multiple fact checks yest. Seems to have more spine and a bigger better brain than Tangerine Palpatine and Dork Vancer combined.
It was so fucking weird when Vance just started losing his mind over the thank you thing.

To my good friend Don, listen to this brief history lesson. And anyone else who has an aptitude to digest it. I know Don does. These are irrefutable facts. Tell me Don, who pushed Russia to invade?

I’ll wait. The Ukrainian people are just innocent bystanders. It’s their corrupt US installed Government. And the US government. Well, Biden, Obama, Bush and Clinton.

Cyka is the correct spelling, get it right.
Suchka, is "Little Bitch" in Russian, not sure where they are getting these spellings.
Plus, its not exactly a literal translation.

Let me start by saying that I have been pro-Trump since his first campaign for President. But I am surprised and confused by yesterday's most dramatic events
My understanding had been that Ukraine was a sovereign nation illegally invaded by Russia. And that Putin was cruelly causing the death of hundreds of thousands of people (both Ukrainian and Russian) as well as the destruction of the culture and civilization of Ukraine. And that we, the USA and its Allies, were the good guys, backing the Ukrainians to protect and preserve their country.
But then yesterday, on TV at least, it looked (to me) like both Trump and Vance were school yard bullies and Zelenskyy, the victim, sitting there in the Oval office looking like "a deer in the headlights"
The issue seems to be that Zelenskyy wants security guarantees tied to his agreement to allow the USA access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals. Given what Ukraine has suffered at the hands of the Russians:
- unbearable death and destruction (they can't even have gov't meetings with the lights on in their offices because of the threat of Russian drone strikes);
- the history that they gave up their nuclear weapons in exchange for guarantees from the UN that they would come to the defense of Ukraine if needed - a promise that was not fulfilled; and
- Putin's failure to comply with various agreements he made with Ukraine during the course of this war, etc, etc
Zelenskyy's focus on getting security guarantees included in current negotiations is understandable. In fact, it seems to me that access to Ukraine's rare earth minerals is the only card Zelenskyy has to play. So agreeing to give this away without security guarantees seems like it would, in my opinion, be foolish. But then I am not an international diplomat.
What am I missing to understand Trump's position?

Great post! But the Oval Office debate started when Zelenskyy tried to correct Vance on the importance of diplomacy.
I agree with most of what you wrote, other than where is Europe!? I would think they would be stepping up in a big way to protect Ukraine. The world has gotten way too comfortable letting us pay for everyone’s protection.
The big problem with Trumps stance is many countries will turn to a different superpower to align with now that they know they can’t count on the USA anymore. And who would agree to stop building Nukes with a promise of protection anymore?

I took the time and watched the video, maybe the best explanation of why we are where, we are right now.

100%
Zelensky just gave Trump a golden ticket.
Now Trump has the optics to shut down all aid to Ukraine, turn up the heat on the investigation into the money laundering, and negotiations with Putin just got easier.
This was a massive turning point for public perception of Ukraine, and I’d argue we are now closer to peace, now that Trump no longer has to worry about being seemingly supportive of Ukraine. He can come to terms with Putin, and Zelensky will remain at the kid’s table while the adults determine his fate.
Today, the veil was lifted.
