These cuts are not Covid related. Who is blaming trump for Covid?

"The cuts will put further pressure on US oil and gas job numbers, which are still about 10% below pre-pandemic levels despite domestic production rising close to a record high. A wave of mergers and acquisitions, improved drilling efficiency and a focus by management on profitability over production growth have all led to staff reductions and slow hiring."
nice try blaming COVID on Trump and his re-election.

We were already pumping record amounts. Could the oil industry know more than the lying current administration. They did it to save money. And right out of the gate, Trump gets caught lying.
That's not adding jobs, is it?

A lot of those behemoth companies are probably as wasteful as our government with employees they don't need... to say they are pretty bad with keeping up with job duty redundancy/duplication is an understatement.
I'm not going to blame Trump for what I think is a wise business decision for Chevron's shareholders.

McCain is right. Oil companies are producing more oil and gas with fewer people. And it's not just Chevron and not just oil producers. It's called productivity growth, and it's the key to making America a more prosperous place.

anything you can think of why Chevron fled Kalifornica for Tejas?

Global work force means just what it says. Global is global, from all over. Global jobs are being cut from all sectors.
Not sure where you got "non-Americans" will be laid off but nice try making it look like trump isn't losing jobs on his watch.
BP and Exxon have also cut thousands of jobs lowering energy sector jobs under trump's watch.
Plus old news of moving the headquarters isn't more interesting. It is part of the overall cost savings.

Link to prove staff faces most layoffs?
Who said production would decrease?
These are real people losing their jobs.

production won't decrease due to any of this.

Again, this is a good thing, and Chevron’s just catching up with the rest of the industry. The way we increase per capita GDP is by improving productivity, that is, output per person. That happens in many American businesses as a result of improvements in technology. And oil and gas, with innovations like horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing, is no exception.
Please read this Tigbitties and you’ll understand.
https://www.eenews.net/articles/oil-...2520regulation.
A lot of the reduction in workforce will be through asset sales. And many of the workers won’t lose their jobs, they’ll be working for whoever bought the assets.
I’ve known a number of people who’ve been through this and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Many people will take voluntary severance. Others who go with the assets will receive retention bonuses from their new employers

I’m glad that Trump voters that will be laid off will understand that their unemployment makes America great. I look forward to more Ttumpys being laid off for the good of the country.

Wait until the MAGA voters receiving Medicaid find out first hand the impact of the Trump/DOGE/Musk cuts.

One wonders if they will be able to put 1+1 together or will they be following the party dogma.

How many "trumpies" are in Chevron's GGLOBAL workforce, salty?
Funny how maggies were screaming about the oil sands project being shut down because of all the jobs it would have created. But the great majority of those jobs were short term. Just a mere bump in the employment numbers.
Now they are happy about the lay offs. So, why were they pissed that joey save $$$ and came to the same results?

If good Democrats like Blackman had been in charge for the last 200 years, America would be the greatest buggy whip manufacturer in the world! MBWGA! How’s that for a slogan, make buggy whips great again! Seriously, using Mexico or Brazil, where it’s almost impossible to lay people off, as a model is a piss poor economic strategy.
Again, when you take into account people who will retain their jobs after asset sales, only for different employers, and people who take voluntary severance, you won’t be left with that many job losses.
Edit: I’m feeling guilty about this Precious B, given that you nominated me to run DOGE. So I have edited my post to indicate that Blackman is the only buggy whip fan in this forum.

I always use the example of the last great personal transportation means of people in this country when it comes to those that bad mouth electric vehicles. I always ask how their investments in the tannic acid futures are doing. What holding in farrier business they have. How is their stock in oats. Because with the mindset they have about electrification, they would have never accepted the advancement of automobiles.
And my post was made about business that shack up and have their soon to be laid off people go to human resourses to guide them to re-education for other fields of employment. Doesn't mean what they currently are doing doesn't apply to another industry.
