Sure, if you consider sending Javelin missiles to Ukraine to kill Russian soldiers, and telling Putin he was going to make America energy independent, taking a bite out the oil and gas industry of Russia. And making NATO members pay more in dues to make NATO even stronger. Yeah, I'll bet buddy Putin liked that a lot. Then he increased sanctions on Russia. Oh, and those Russian soldiers we killed in Syria.

Helluva way to treat your buddy huh? Unless of course your narrative is pure BS, which it is.

I call bullshit. Trump's popularity never dropped that low in Europe. In countries such as Poland, Hungary and Lithuania - i.e., those most exposed to and concerned about the Russian threat - Trump consistently polled between 60% and 80% approval.

And that climate accord is deader than a doorknob. Even the greenies in Germany know they need to ramp up LNG imports from the US and restart their mothballed nuclear power plants if they want to escape Putin's energy blackmail.

If you think anyone cares about obama's toothless climate pact (which has no enforcement mechanisms and lets China and India emit more & more carbon) then I suggest you visit Kyev and take a poll asking how many Ukrainians are worried about climate change right now.

Here's a relevant thread I started recently. Read it. You need a fucking reality check:

They will oppose him. This has been brewing for a long time. Ukraine is badly split between pro-Russians in the east and pro-Ukraine nationalists in the west. They hate each other. War will be tragic and fratricidal.

Here is a NYT story from 8 years ago. Putin mentioned the 2014 Odessa fire that killed 42 pro-Russian separatists in his speech today:

"The conflict is hardening hearts on both sides. As the building burned, Ukrainian activists sang the Ukrainian national anthem, witnesses on both sides said. They also hurled a new taunt: “Colorado” for the Colorado potato beetle, striped red and black like the pro-Russian ribbons. Those outside chanted “burn Colorado, burn,” witnesses said. Swastikalike symbols were spray painted on the building, along with graffiti reading “Galician SS,” though it was unclear when it had appeared, or who had painted it.

“The biggest thing they ever did to make me hate this country was sing the anthem,” Mr. Milteynus said. “I was going to die, and they sang the anthem. I hate them deeply.”

His standing with you was incredibly low. But that wouldn't be a problem for Trump because you're not a world leader.

Putin must be into numerology like many despots. Today at 2:22 local time, on a Tuesday, on the date of 02/22/22 the Russian army started moving into Ukraine. 2/2/2/2/22/22/Tuesday

Biden and Trudeau both announced a press conference and an announcement today at 2:22 EST and 2:22 CST respectively.

You are way off...because you are in eastern Europe. Trump was down around 17% with leaders that matter.

Your other discussion is way off too. Trump was a disaster in foreign relations.

Gosh VitaMan, you are soooo persuasive. I just love the way you provided links and polls and empirical back-up for your assertions! And your examples of Trump's foreign policy "disasters" is just soooo compelling! Your posts are always deep, thoughtful and substantiated! Keep up the good work!

Btw - I'm not in eastern Europe. I'm right here in the good ol' USA. But I'm pretty sure Ukraine is in eastern Europe though. Isn't that what this thread is about? So maybe my mentioning how well Trump actually polled in eastern Europe was more on topic than your vague and unsubstantiated opinions, ya think?

it appears Russia gets a free pass into the disputed area controlled by these separatists. then what does Putin do? move past the area controlled by the Pro-Russia separatists to claim the entire Donetsk and Luhansk regions? and does Ukraine let them or not?

To clarify the area you discuss is eastern Europe. Trump was a disaster at NATO meetings. His trip to North Korea was nothing more than a stunt to try and get a Nobel peace prize. It was a photo op for Lil Kim.

NATO Sec'y General Stoltenberg disagrees with you...

President Donald Trump "is committed to NATO" and deserves credit in obtaining $100 billion more in defense spending for the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, the secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, said Sunday...

"We agreed to do more to step up – and now we see the results. By the end of next year, NATO allies will add $100 billion extra toward defense," he said. "So we see some real money and some real results. And we see that the clear message from President Donald Trump is having an impact."

Well, Joey better come up with a "stunt" of his own, and soon. Little Rocket Man wants attention.

what he should do is immediately increase oil production. fuck over Russia and crash their economy.

strange that Russia as large as it is, the largest nation on the planet, really only has one major industry it seems, oil. don't have time at the moment to research it but i'm pretty sure the US has far more export industries than them drunk Russies.

so Trump was right all along, NATO was sandbagging and expecting the US to shoulder too high a cost for their defense. who knew?
